Abstract:
A pressure vessel (28) accumulates an aqueous stream at elevated pressure and feeds it through a pressure retaining array of passages (18) in the bottom wall of a modular reaction chamber (14) that operates at atmospheric pressure. Spaced electrodes (16) treat the stream during upward flow to the open top of the chamber, where the treated stream overflows the chamber and falls into an inter-wall volume between the chamber and an outside housing (12), washing foam from the housing and chamber as it exits. A housing cover (54) establishes headspace over the chamber to accommodate the overflow. The entire chamber (14) is removable from the housing (12) by loosening fasteners (39) in the bottom wall (20) and lifting it free, with no impediment due to clogging or corrosion outside the chamber.
Abstract:
Modular pure water systems are provided that have a tank and a cover assembly, wherein the tank and cover assembly are configured to removably receive therebetween one or more expansion tubes in a fluid tight manner to allow for selective volume expansion of the pure water system. Also provided are purification media bags for pure water systems that have a shape, construction, and/or material that mitigates the flow of water between the outer wall of the bag and an inner wall of the pure water systems.
Abstract:
A modular methane digester facility includes prefabricated portable concrete panels and a flexible membrane roof sealing an interior space of the methane digester. A separator-conveyor dewatering device, integratable into the front end of the methane digester facility, separates a semi-solid liquid manure into a liquid portion and a solid portion. A method of dual-stage methane digestion includes stacking a solid stage in a methane digester and supplying a liquid stage to the top of the solid stage. The liquid stage percolates by gravity through the solid stage, the solid stage acts as a filter for the liquid stage, and the liquid stage acts as a methanogenic buffer for the solid stage. A method of pre-heating a mass of solids in a methane digester to a mesophilic temperature includes supplying oxygen to the mass of solids in the form of ambient air supplied to the methane digester by a reverse-air pump.
Abstract:
The waste water/storm water treatment system includes a plurality of treatment modules, each of which includes upper and lower tank members. Each tank includes an inlet with a spray bar at the upper end thereof, and a drainage member at the lower end thereof. Treated water moves from the drainage member in the upper tank through an inlet at the top of the lower tank. The outlet member of the lower tank is connected to a pump which is controlled by a switch, to move water to the next module in the system or to the drainage system. The tanks have metal-adsorbing inorganic media or agricultural media positioned therein, such as activated rice hulls, corn cobs and the like for adsorbing metals in the storm water/waste water.
Abstract:
A mobile water re-use system can include a chemical treatment apparatus, at least one weir tank in fluid communication with the chemical treatment apparatus, and two or more settling tanks in fluid communication with each other and at least one of the settling tanks in fluid communication with the weir tank. The weir tank can have a first end, a second end, an internal chamber, and a plurality of baffles that induce turbulent flow of fluid through the internal chamber. The settling tanks can provide, promote, facilitate, result in, and/or induce laminar flow of fluid through at least a portion of the internal chamber. Weir tanks, settling tanks, and method of treating flowback and produced water are also described.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a fixed bed for aerobic or anaerobic wastewater purification, comprising an upper frame having support elements fixed to opposite side rails and/or intermediate rails for attaching textile, foldable, non-degradable supports for microorganism, a lower frame having support elements for fixing the textile supports to the lower frame, and means connecting the frames at a corner region. The invention is a fixed bed where all parts of the fixed bed can be assembled to form a relatively small packaging unit that already contains the inserted textiles. Frames are provided with spacers at least in the corner regions, the height of which spacers corresponds to the material height of the folded supports between two frames and the supports are fixed by means of the supports members to the side rails and/or intermediate rails of the frames in a preassembly step before folding.
Abstract:
A system for treating wastewater including at least one water-treatment pathway having at least one wastewater inlet, at least one oxygen-permeable, water-impermeable wall, separating an interior of the pathway from outside air, and at least one treated wastewater outlet and arranged for at least aerobic treatment of the wastewater as it flows from the at least one wastewater inlet to the at least one treated wastewater outlet, at least one wastewater supply conduit, supplying the wastewater to the at least one wastewater inlet of the water-treatment pathway and at least one treated wastewater conduit, supplying treated wastewater from the at least one treated wastewater outlet of the at least one water-treatment pathway.
Abstract:
A modularized fluid purification device and a method for fluid purification are provided that utilizes electrical power to create a high voltage electrostatic field through which the fluid is passed in combination with filtration to remove or neutralize both organic and inorganic contaminants. The electrostatic field may be focused using an electromagnetic field, and one or more filters downstream of the electrostatic field may be charged to attract correspondingly charged contaminants. The electrical power for creating the electrostatic field and/or charging the filters may be generated via a power generation module of the device or from an external source of power. Fluid, such as water, that is passed through the device and purified may, as a result, be suitable for human consumption, as well as agricultural and industrial applications.
Abstract:
A novelty pool float device is provided for supporting a pool chlorine dispenser, a pool thermometer, and for providing storage of articles within the float device along the water's surface. The device comprises a float body having an ornamental shape and design that resembles an animal creature, such as an alligator, duck, or deer, while the body underside surface includes a first and second threaded aperture to accept the chlorine dispenser and thermometer upper therein. Within the float body is an aperture for storing articles such as other pool maintenance items (pH test strips, etc.) and personal items of those in the pool. The float body is weighted to support the chlorine dispenser and thermometer in an upright configuration that resists tipping, particularly in choppy conditions when participants are in the water.
