Abstract:
A system and method of alerting a wireless communication capability of a camera body to the presence of an external antenna element present in electrical communication with a pre-existing port of the camera body that was originally not designed for an external antenna. The wireless communication capability may be activated and/or deactivated by an electrical event produced when a connector of the external antenna is connected to the pre-existing port.
Abstract:
A cam for a brake is provided that allows for greater brake shoe travel and thicker brake linings while providing the same or greater mechanical force as compared to conventional cams. One or more lobes of the cam include multiple portions having varying profiles in axial cross-section. The variation in the cam profiles results in a cam in which the outermost ends or tips of the lobes are longer than in conventional cams yet retain the same mechanical strength.
Abstract:
A method of determining a quality value for an image frame is disclosed. The method comprises dividing (in a step 202) the frame into a plurality of tiles (906) and determining attributes (in a step 206) of each said tile based upon pixel values of the tile, and pixel values of a corresponding tile of a preceding frame. The method then establishes (in steps 210, 212) the quality value of the frame by testing the tile attributes of the frame against pre-determined criteria. The method then defines (in a step 220) the quality value of the frame depending upon results of the testing.
Abstract:
A water irrigation system may include a computer system, a sensing unit, an irrigation controller, and/or a water delivery system. The computer system may include regional evapotranspiration. The sensing unit may assess climatological conditions and provide output that is a function of the climatological conditions to the computer system. The computer system may assess zonal evapotranspiration at least partially based on the output provided by the sensing unit. The computer system may assess an irrigation need of the zone to be irrigated at least partially based on the regional evapotranspiration and the assessed zonal evapotranspiration. A method of controlling irrigation may include assessing climatological conditions, assessing zonal evapotranspiration based at least on the assessed climatological conditions, and controlling irrigation of the zone to be irrigated at least partially based on regional evapotranspiration and the assessed zonal evapotranspiration.
Abstract:
A water irrigation system may include a computer system, a sensing unit, an irrigation controller, and/or a water delivery system. The sensing unit may include a moisture gauge. The moisture gauge may include a capacitor coupled to a collector. The sensing unit may assess an amount of moisture in the collector and provide output that is a function of the amount of moisture in the collector to the computer system. The computer system may control irrigation of a zone to be irrigated at least partially based on the assessed amount of moisture in the collector. A method of controlling irrigation may include assessing an amount of moisture in a collector near or in a zone to be irrigated and controlling irrigation at least partially based on the assessed amount of moisture in the collector.
Abstract:
A coated confectionery product has a confectionery center; a first coating surrounding the center and comprising a fat; and a second coating surrounding the first coating and comprising a hard shell made from one or more sugars, polyols, high intensity sweeteners and mixtures thereof. The sugar may be selected from the group consisting of sucrose, dextrose, and maltose. Optionally a third coating may surround the second coating layer and comprise a film comprising film forming agents.
Abstract:
A joint prosthesis includes a head component that is engaged to a bone stem through a mounting element. The mounting element is configured for articulating engagement with the stem to permit angular positioning of the head component in multiple degrees of freedom. The mounting element is fastened to the stem by a press-fit engagement and a separate mechanical fastener.
Abstract:
A water dispersible nonwoven web is disclosed. The nonwoven web is produced in an airlaying process and contains pulp fibers mixed with water soluble fibers. The water soluble fibers may be, for instance, polyvinyl alcohol fibers. The nonwoven web may be pre-saturated with a cleaning solution. Once pre-saturated with a cleaning solution, the wiping product is particularly well suited to cleaning and/or disinfecting surfaces, such as toilet seats prior to use. Because the nonwoven web is water dispersible, the wiper may be disposed of by being flushed down a toilet.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a conversion process of a feedstock, preferably an oxygenated feedstock, into one or more olefin(s), preferably ethylene and/or propylene, in the presence of a molecular sieve catalyst composition that includes a molecular sieve and a Group 3 metal oxide and/or an oxide of a Lanthanide or Actinide series element. The invention is also directed to methods of making and formulating the molecular sieve catalyst composition useful in a conversion process of a feedstock into one or more olefin(s).
Abstract:
A logistics system manages the shipments of goods supplied from a plurality of different shippers by a plurality of carriers. It has a variety of modules integrated with each other to perform various functionalities. For example, it may have a purchasing module evaluating proposals by shippers for respective shipments of goods and awarding contracts for the shipments to the plurality of carriers. It may have an optimization module analyzing the proposals and informing the purchasing module if an opportunity exists for at least some of the shipments to be consolidated, in which case at least one contract awarded by the purchasing module is for a consolidated group of the shipments. It may have a contract administration module maintaining information relating to the status of proposals received and contracts awarded by the purchasing module. It may have a scheduling module scheduling shipments according to the awarded contracts. It may also have a shipment management module tracking the status of shipments awarded by the purchasing module and scheduled by said scheduling module. It may further have a financial module authorizing payments according to the status of shipments tracked by the shipment management module are passed between first and second asynchronous clock domains.
