Abstract: An LED bulb with a down-reflecting optic is disclosed. Embodiments of the present invention can provide for an omnidirectional intensity distribution in the vertical plane for a vertically oriented solid-state lamp. In example embodiments, an optically transmissive enclosure is installed on the driver base. A plurality of LEDs are mounted on a mounting surface of the driver base, and an optical arrangement is disposed at least partially in an optical path from the plurality of LEDs to a central area of the optically transmissive enclosure to down-reflect at least some light from the plurality of LEDs. The optical arrangement can include a TIR optic with a spline-driving surface to down-reflect the at least some light from the plurality of LEDs, or a substantially flat mirror. Either may include a central aperture, and the optical arrangement may include a diffuser or diffusive areas.

Abstract: An image sensor includes an active pixel array including a number of pixels and image sensor control circuitry configured to perform a read operation only on a subset of the pixels of the active pixel array such that pixels not in the subset remain inactive. By reading out only the subset of pixels in the active pixel array and keeping the remaining pixels inactive, the temperature of the active pixel array may be reduced compared to a conventional read out process, thereby reducing thermal noise in the resulting pixel data.

Abstract: An LED-based lighting fixture sets or adjusts a parameter of a drive signal that is used to drive its LEDs to be more compatible with the camera system; the camera system sets or adjusts an image capture parameter to be more compatible with the LED-based lighting fixture, or a combination thereof. The drive signal may be a PWM signal with a variable PWM frequency and/or duty cycle, a variable DC signal, or any combination thereof. The parameter of the drive signal that may be set or adjusted includes, but is not limited to, a PWM period, PWM frequency, PWM duty cycle, amplitude of the active and inactive portions of the PWM signal, and the like. The image capture parameter that may be adjusted includes, but is not limited to, frame rate, frame period, integration time, gain, shutter type (i.e. rolling shutter, global shutter, etc.), and the like.

For example, a luminaire comprises a driver assembly vertically integrated with a LED assembly, the driver assembly comprising a driver heatsink having an interior in which a circuit board assembly is positioned, and the LED assembly comprising an array of LEDs and LED heatsink, wherein a barrier is positioned between the driver heatsink and the LED heatsink, separating convective cooling of the driver assembly from convective cooling of the LED assembly.

Abstract: Tenon-mounted lighting fixtures with high structural integrity are provided. In one embodiment, the lighting fixture has a housing that has an integrally formed tenon cradle, which is configured to receive a tenon of a light pole. A light source is also mounted on a bottom side of the housing. The tenon cradle is between a first bolt boss and a second bolt boss, and is in communication with a rear opening of the housing. The first and second bolt bosses may be integrally formed in the housing. The tenon cradle includes multiple ribs. An arcuate cross rib resides in a first plane in which a first bolt shaft of the first bolt boss and a second bolt shaft of the second bolt shaft reside. An axial rib intersects the arcuate cross rib and runs perpendicular to the first plane.

Abstract: A method includes the steps of obtaining distance measurements between a device and a number of lighting fixtures, processing the distance measurements to assign coordinates to each one of the lighting fixtures, and facilitating registration of the coordinates of a subset of the lighting fixtures to obtain registered coordinates for all of the lighting fixtures. The coordinates indicate a relative location of each one of the lighting fixtures with respect to one another. The registered coordinates indicate a location of each lighting fixture in a desired coordinate space. Accordingly, a location of a lighting fixture within a desired coordinate space can be easily obtained, which may enable significant additional functionality of the lighting fixture.

Abstract: A lighting device system includes light emitters where a battery powers the light emitters. A battery supplies the power for powering the light emitters and a driver is arranged to selectively power the light emitters to adjust an operating parameter of the at least one light emitter based on the charge status of the battery. The driver may be in communication with a GNSS receiver that provides geospatial information used to adjust the at least one parameter. The driver may power the light emitters according to a non-adaptive light level profile and an adaptive light level profile where the light emitters consume less energy when operated under the adaptive light level profile than when operated under the non-adaptive light level profile. A processing device operatively coupled to memory determines, based on a state of charge of the battery, which profile to run.

Abstract: A lighting fixture including a light source, a housing, an image sensor, and a lens is disclosed. The housing is coupled to the light source and includes an opening through which light from the light source is emitted to fill an illumination area. The image sensor is configured to capture one or more images of the illumination area. Abstract: A distributed, parallel, image capture and processing architecture provides significant advantages over prior art systems. A very large array of computational circuits—in some embodiments, matching the size of the pixel array—is distributed around, within, or beneath the pixel array of an image sensor. Each computational circuit is dedicated to, and in some embodiments is physically proximal to, one, two, or more associated pixels. Each computational circuit is operative to perform computations on one, two, or more pixel values generated by its associated pixels. The computational circuits all perform the same operation(s), in parallel. In this manner, a very large number of pixel-level operations are performed in parallel, physically and electrically near the pixels. This obviates the need to transfer very large amounts of pixel data from a pixel array to a CPU/memory, for at least many pixel-level image processing operations, thus alleviating the significant high-speed performance constraints placed on modern image sensors.
