Abstract: Aqueous matte coating compositions and methods for applying aqueous matte coating compositions to substrates are disclosed. The compositions comprise (a) from 10 to 65 wt % of a first acrylic bead having a calculated glass transition temperature (“Tg”) of from −30 to 10° C. and an average diameter particle of from 0.1 to 2 μm, (b) from 20 to 80 wt % of a second acrylic bead having a calculated Tg of from −60 to 0° C. and an average particle diameter of from 0.5 to 30 μm, optionally (c) from 10 to 30 wt % of a polymer binder having an average particle diameter of 0.03 to 0.5 μm, and (d) a slip additive. In some embodiments, the slip additive comprises a silicone emulsion and a wax dispersion. In some embodiments, the slip additive comprises a polyurethane dispersion. Methods for applying aqueous matte coating compositions are also disclosed.

Abstract: An aqueous polyurethane dispersion compositions are disclosed. The compositions include a polyurethane prepolymer dispersed in an aqueous medium, the polyurethane prepolymer comprising an isocyanate and a crystalline polyester polyol having a hydroxyl content of 20 to 150 mg KOH/g and a melt temperature of less than or equal to 90° C. Methods of forming a laminate are also disclosed. The methods include providing an aqueous polyurethane dispersion, applying the polyurethane dispersion to a surface of the first substrate, bringing the side of the first substrate into contract with a surface of the second substrate, and curing the aqueous dispersion, thereby laminating the first substrate to the second substrate. Laminates formed by the methods and including the compositions are also disclosed.

Abstract: Articles made from a moisture-curable, polymeric composition comprising in weight percent based on the weight of the composition: (A) 2 to less than 80 weight percent (wt %) of an ethylenic polymer with (1) a crystallinity at room temperature of 34% to 55%, or 65% to 80%, and (2) a melt index (I2) of 0.1 to 50 decigrams per minute (dg/min); (B) 3 to 30 wt % of a halogenated flame retardant; (C) 3 to 30 wt % an inorganic antimony flame retardant; and (D) 0 to 10 wt % of at least one of an inorganic flame retardant other than the inorganic antimony flame retardant, e.g., zinc oxide exhibit enhanced ACBD properties in comparison to articles alike in all respects except made from a composition comprising an ethylenic polymer without the requisite crystallinity at room temperature.

Abstract: A two-component solventless adhesive composition is disclosed, the adhesive composition comprising an isocyanate component comprising at least one isocyanate, and a polyol component comprising at least one amine-initiated polyol having a functionality of from 3 to 8 and a hydroxyl number of from 20 to 1,000, wherein the first and second components are formulated to be applied to separate substrates before being brought together. Further, a method for forming a laminate is disclosed, the method comprising uniformly applying the isocyanate component to a first substrate, uniformly applying the polyol component to a second substrate, bringing the first and second substrates together, thereby mixing and reacting the isocyanate component and the polyol component to form an adhesive between the first and second substrates, and curing the adhesive to bond the first and second substrates. Still further, a laminate formed by the method is disclosed.

Abstract: Two-component solventless polyurethane adhesive compositions are disclosed comprising an isocyanate component comprising an isocyanate blend, and a polyol component comprising an amine-initiated polyol comprising two or more primary hydroxyl groups and a backbone incorporating tertiary amines, wherein the amine-initiated polyol comprises a functionality of from 2 to 12, a hydroxyl number of from 5 to 1,830, and a viscosity at 40° C. of from 500 to 20,000 mPa-s, and a silicone-based additive (e.g., an anti-foaming agent and/or a wetting agent). The adhesive compositions are formulated such that the isocyanate and polyol components can be applied to separate substrates prior to mixing. Laminate structures comprising the disclosed adhesive compositions and further comprising a polymeric barrier substrate are also disclosed.
