摘要: A sensor element for limiting-current sensors for determining the lambda value of gas mixtures, in particular of exhaust gases from internal combustion engines. The sensor element has inner and outer pump electrodes arranged on a solid electrolyte foil. The inner pump electrode is arranged in a diffusion channel that is bordered by a diffusion barrier, the pump electrode lying in the diffusion direction of the gas mixture downstream of the diffusion barrier. The gas entry hole, essentially perpendicular to the surface of the solid electrolyte foil, is led through the solid electrolyte foil into the diffusion channel. The diffusion barrier is arranged so as to be set back in the diffusion channel from the interior wall of the gas entry hole. For manufacturing the sensor element, a chamber created upstream of the diffusion barrier is filled with a cavity-creating material, which evaporates in the sintering of the sensor element and thus forms a cavity in the diffusion channel.

摘要: A measuring sensor for determining gas compositions, includes a substrate consisting essentially of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, electrodes disposed on the substrate, a sensor layer consisting essentially of TiO.sub.2 disposed above the electrodes, and an adhesion-improving layer which consists essentially of Al.sub.2 TiO.sub.5 and which is disposed on the substrate, the adhesion-improving layer being at least partially connected with the electrodes. The adhesion-improving layer is provided to improve the adhesiveness of the electrodes, and includes a material in common with the material of the sensor layer, i.e., Ti. The material of the adhesion-improving layer is selected so as to prevent a chemical reaction between the materials of the substrate and the sensor layer.

摘要: An artificial island located on the high sea is formed of a support structure and a platform mounted on the upper end of the support structure. During erection, the support structure, not completed for its full height, is moved into position and founded on the ocean floor. The platform is floated into position and mounted on the upper end of the support structure. The height of the support structure is then extended until the final height is reached. During the completion of the upper end of the support structure, the platform is lifted so that it remains on top of the support structure. A housing is provided around the upper end of the support structure so that it can be sealed from the environment for completing the construction of the upper end of the support structure.

摘要: For the reduction of internal stresses and formation of cracks caused thereby, an exhaust gas probe includes two measuring electrodes separated by a solid electrolyte layer made substantially of ZrO2 and a circuit-board conductor layer for electrically heating the solid electrolyte layer. The circuit-board conductor layer is firmly connected to the solid electrolyte layer via a first sealingly sintered insulating layer made of an Al2O3-containing material. A pore-forming material is added to the Al2O3-containing material before. sintering.

摘要: A ceramic layer system including at least two layers having respective ion conductivities which are substantially different includes a substrate layer composed of a ceramic material and having substantially no ion conductivity; and at least one conducting layer positioned adjacent to the substrate layer, containing coated ceramic particles composed of ceramic particles composed of a ceramic material having no substantial ion conductivity which are coated with a material having a substantial ion conductivity so that each conducting layer of the at least one conducting layer has a continuous phase after sintering composed of the material which has a substantial ion conductivity and so that the at least one conducting layer has an ion conductivity effective to conduct ions. A method of producing a gas sensor for detecting small quantities of at least one gas in gas mixtures includes providing a substrate layer composed of ceramic particles composed of a material having substantially no ion conductivity; applying a layer composed of coated ceramic particles onto the substrate layer, the coated ceramic particles being composed of ceramic particles composed of a material that has no substantial ion conductivity coated with a material which has a substantial ion conductivity at the operating temperature of the gas sensor; applying at least one functional layer onto the layer composed of coated ceramic particles to provide a green body; preheating the green body to remove binding agents, plastifying agents, and any additional organic constituents; and sintering the green body after preheating by heating to a temperature effective to sinter the green body so that the layer comprised of coated ceramic particles has a continuous phase comprised of the material which has a substantial ion conductivity.
