Abstract:
Methods and systems for automatic classification of images of internal structures of human and animal bodies. A method includes receiving a magnetic resonance (MR) image testing model and determining a testing volume of the testing model that includes areas of the testing model to be classified as bone or cartilage. The method includes modifying the testing model so that the testing volume corresponds to a mean shape and a shape variation space of an active shape model and producing an initial classification of the testing volume by fitting the testing volume to the mean shape and the shape variation space. The method includes producing a refined classification of the testing volume into bone areas and cartilage areas by refining the boundaries of the testing volume with respect to the active shape model and segmenting the MR image testing model into different areas corresponding to bone areas and cartilage areas.
Abstract:
Techniques for end-to-end tracing of database operations in source code for database applications are provided. Source code on the client side is instrumented to measure time spent on selected database operation statements (e.g., queries). The selected database operation statements can be uniquely tagged or identified. Tracing is enabled on the database application on the server side so that a log is produced, where the log includes performance (e.g., time spent) information on database operation statements that are executed. The performance information in the log is correlated to the selected database operation statements so that, among other things, the time spent on the client side and the time spent on the server side can be presented for analysis.
Abstract:
There is provided an information processing device including: a global map acquiring unit that acquires at least a part of a global map representing positions of objects in a real space where a plurality of users are in activity; a local map generating unit that generates a local map representing positions of nearby objects detectable by a device of one user among the plurality of users; and an updating unit that updates the global map based on position data of objects included in the local map
Abstract:
A large machining apparatus for working a substantially planar workpiece such as a metal plate in relation to which a set of work actions, such as machining grooves and holes, is required at one of a number of work zones on or in the workpiece, the apparatus including: a working assembly such as a drop down drill movably mounted on a beam for reciprocal linear movement along a first horizontal axis extending parallel to the longitudinal axis of the workpiece; and an assembly rail movably mounted on the beam at right angles to the beam to carry the working assembly. The apparatus further includes: an immobilizing base mounted on the rail for reciprocal linear movement along the assembly rail in the direction of a second axis and a clamping base mounted on the immobilizing base and adapted to be clamped onto the workpiece to locate the working assembly at a predetermined one of said work zones; and a movable base mounted on the assembly rail for limited reciprocal linear displacement along the assembly rail in the direction of the second axis relative to the immobilizing base. The working assembly is mounted on the movable base to enable limited linear displacement of the working assembly in the second axis direction in the predetermined work zone.
Abstract:
An application programming interface (API) for administering the distribution of software updates on an update service node is presented. The API provides a plurality of interface calls through which an administrator can establish rules by which software updates available to the update service node are distributed.
Abstract:
A method for preparing induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, which comprises steps as follows: step 1, introducing one or more stem cell pluripotency factors into somatic cells; step 2, culturing the somatic cells, into which the stem cell pluripotency factor has been introduced in the Step 1, by using medium supplemented with lithium salt; and step 3, identifying and characterizing the induced pluripotent stem cells. Furthermore, there provided a medium for preparing induced pluripotent stem cells, which comprising lithium salt. The medium supplemented with lithium salt is used for efficiently inducing pluripotent stem cells. Lithium salt is able to increase the production efficiency of mouse iPS cells by 5-60 times. The present method for inducing iPS cells is in favor of improving the safety of iPS technique and application of iPS cells in regenerative medicine.
Abstract:
A socket connector includes a socket body, a sliding plate movably mounted upon the socket body, a plurality contacts received in the socket body and the sliding plate, and an actuating mechanism. The actuating mechanism includes a lid moving upwardly and downwardly between a first position away from the socket body and a second position close to the socket body, and a lever having one mating bar with at least a first tab and a second tab to be pressed by the lid so as to push the sliding plate moving.
Abstract:
A piezoelectric patch can be used to repair a defective structure having a plate configuration. The piezoelectric patch can be energized with an applied voltage that is configured to sustain the loading arising from the plate. The applied voltages and electrodes of the patch can be configured based on a numerical model and a finite element method (FEM).

Abstract:
Techniques for providing type (and/or mode) conversion of parameters for software applications are provided. In general, a type conversion utility accesses a template that defines type and mode conversions for parameters between different components. The type conversion utility utilizes information stored in the template for that direct how the parameters will be converted. Additionally, techniques are provided for returning output values.
