The process involves dehydrofluorinating CF3CHFCH2F in the presence of a dehydrofluorination catalyst to produce a product mixture comprising CF3CF═CH2 and CF3CH═CHF, and recovering said CF3CF═CH2 and CF3CH═CHF from the product mixture.The present invention also provides a composition comprising (a) the Z-isomer of CF3CH═CHF and (b) HF; wherein the HF is present in an effective amount to form an azeotropic combination with the Z—CF3CH═CHF.

    摘要: A chromium-containing catalyst is disclosed which includes both ZnCr2O4 and crystalline α-chromium oxide. The ZnCr2O4 contains between about 10 atom percent and 67 atom percent of the chromium in the composition and at least about 70 atom percent of the zinc in the composition, and at least about 90 atom percent of the chromium present as chromium oxide in the composition is present as ZnCr2O4 or crystalline α-chromium oxide. Also disclosed are a method for preparing this composition comprising ZnCr2O4 and crystalline α-chromium oxide; and a chromium-containing catalyst composition prepared by treatment of the composition comprising ZnCr2O4 and crystalline α-chromium oxide with a fluorinating agent. Also disclosed is a process for changing the fluorine distribution in a halogenated hydrocarbon, or incorporating fluorine in a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon, in the presence of at least one composition selected from the group consisting of (i) the ZnCr2O4 and crystalline α-chromium oxide compositions and (ii) the ZnCr2O4 and crystalline α-chromium oxide compositions which have been treated with a fluorinating agent.

    摘要: A process is disclosed for purifying a hydrofluoropropane of undesirable C2–C4 olefinic and C1–C4 saturated chlorinated impurities, comprising the steps of: contacting a first mixture of hydrofluoropropane, olefinic impurity and saturated chlorinated impurity with hydrogen and hydrogen fluoride concurrently in the presence of a bifunctional catalyst, for example an alloy of gold and palladium supported on carbon, capable of catalyzing hydrogenation and fluorination. During the contacting step, olefinic impurity is converted to saturated hydrogenated derivative and/or saturated hydrofluorinated derivative, and saturated chlorinated impurity is converted to a saturated hydrodechlorinated derivative and/or saturated fluorinated derivative. The hydrofluoropropane thus formed is substantially free of both the olefinic and saturated chlorinated impurities and may be used as obtained or subject to further purification steps such as distillation to remove the process derivatives (e.g., hydrogenation, hydrodechlorination and hydrofluorination derivatives) from the hydrofluoropropane.

    摘要: A process is disclosed for the monohydrogenolysis of 2,2-dichlorohexafluoropropane to 2-chloro-2-hydrohexafluoropropane. The process involves reacting the 2,2-dichlorohexafluoropropane with hydrogen at an elevated temperature of about 150.degree. C. or less in the presence of a catalyst containing a catalytically effective amount of palladium supported on trivalent chromium oxide in the presence of an acid of the formula HZ (where Z is Cl and/or F) to produce 2-chloro-2-hydrohexafluoropropane with a selectivity of over 70% based upon the 2,2-dichlorohexafluoropropane converted. Azeotropes of 2-chloro-2-hydrohexafluoropropane with HF are also disclosed; as are processes for producing such azeotropes.
