Abstract:
A camshaft phaser includes an input member; an output member defining an advance chamber and a retard chamber with the input member; a valve spool moveable between an advance position and a retard position and having a valve spool bore with a phasing volume and a venting volume defined therein such that the phasing volume is fluidly segregated from the venting volume; and a phasing check valve within the valve spool. The advance position allows oil to flow through the phasing check valve and through the phasing volume from the advance chamber to the retard chamber while preventing oil from flowing from the retard chamber to the advance chamber and the retard position allows oil to flow through the check valve and through the phasing volume from the retard chamber to the advance chamber while preventing oil from flowing from the advance chamber to the retard chamber.
Abstract:
An electrical adapter assembly including an adapter housing, an electrical receptacle defined by a first technical standard that is disposed within a first face of the adapter housing. The receptacle is configured to receive a first electrical plug defined by the first technical standard. The electrical adapter assembly also includes a second electrical plug defined by a second technical standard projecting from a second face of the adapter housing and electrically interconnected to the electrical receptacle and a thermally conductive member disposed within the adapter housing and projecting from the first face of the adapter housing. The electrical adapter assembly also contains features for detecting a connection of the electrical adapter assembly to the first plug.
Abstract:
A connector system including a first connector body, a second connector body configured to mate with the first connector body, a locking feature configured to secure the second connector body to the first connector body, and a connector position assurance (CPA) device that, when engaged, inhibits operation of the locking feature. A portion of the second connector body and the CPA device cooperate to form a box to completely enclose the locking feature, thereby inhibiting disengagement of the CPA device from the locking feature. The CPA device has a flexible lock arm configured to secure the CPA device to the second connector body. A portion of the CPA lock arm may be configured to be frangible. The second connector body and/or the CPA device may define an aperture configured to provide access to the CPA lock arm. The aperture is at least partially blocked by a frangible tab.
Abstract:
A multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna for a radar system that includes a receive antenna, a first transmit antenna, and a second transmit antenna. The receive antenna is configured to detect radar signals reflected by a target toward the receive antenna. The first transmit antenna is formed of a first vertical array of radiator elements. The second transmit antenna is formed of a second vertical array of radiator elements distinct from the first vertical array. The second transmit antenna is vertically offset from the first transmit antenna by a vertical offset distance selected so an elevation angle to the target can be determined.
Abstract:
A system for automated operation of a vehicle includes an infotainment-device and a controller. The infotainment-device is operable to provide an infotainment-activity to an operator of a vehicle. The controller is operable to estimate a take-over-interval for an operator to prepare for a mode-transition from automated-control of the vehicle by the controller to manual-control of the vehicle by the operator. The take-over-interval is determined based on the infotainment-activity of the operator. The controller is operable to notify the operator that the mode-transition is needed at least the take-over-interval prior to a take-over-time.
Abstract:
A multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna for a radar system includes a receive antenna, a first transmit-antenna-arrangement, and a second transmit-antenna-arrangement. The receive-antenna is configured to detect radar-signals reflected by a target toward the receive-antenna. The first transmit-antenna-arrangement includes a first vertical-array of radiator elements and a second vertical-array of radiator elements. The first transmit-antenna-arrangement is configured so the first vertical-array can be selectively coupled to a transmitter independent of the second vertical-array. The second transmit-antenna-arrangement includes a third vertical-array of radiator elements and a fourth vertical-array of radiator elements. The second transmit-antenna-arrangement is configured so the third vertical-array can be selectively coupled to a transmitter independent of the fourth vertical-array. The second transmit-antenna-arrangement is vertically offset from the first transmit-antenna-arrangement by a vertical offset distance selected so an elevation angle to the target can be determined by the receive-antenna.
Abstract:
A system for automated operation of a host-vehicle includes a vehicle-control device, an object-detection device, and a controller. The vehicle-control device is operable to control one or more of acceleration of the host-vehicle, braking of the host-vehicle, and steering of the host-vehicle. The object-detection device is operable to detect a rearward-vehicle located behind the host-vehicle. The controller is configured to determine when the object-detection device indicates that a rear-end collision into the host-vehicle by the rearward-vehicle is imminent, and operate the vehicle-control device to reduce the effect of the rear-end collision experienced by an operator of the host-vehicle when the rear-end collision is imminent.
Abstract:
A cognitive-driver-assist system includes an object-detection device, an operator-detection device, a control-override device, and a controller. The object-detection device is operable to detect when an object is proximate to a host-vehicle. The operator-detection device is operable to determine when an operator of the host-vehicle is aware of the object. The control-override device is operable to limit operator-authority of the operator while the operator is driving the host-vehicle. The controller is configured to operate the control-override device in accordance with the operator-authority to override the operator and avoid interference with the object when the operator is not aware of the object.
Abstract:
An ignition transformer for use with a spark ignition system for an internal combustion engine includes a central core, a primary coil, a secondary coil, and a magnetic return. The central core defines a first end and a second end. The primary coil is used to vary magnetic energy into the central core in response to a primary current applied to the primary coil. The secondary coil is used to generate a secondary voltage in response to changes in the magnetic energy in the central core. The magnetic return defines a return-path to couple magnetic energy from the first end to the second end. A permeability value of the return-path is selected so the transformer has a secondary-current versus time-response characteristic that decays to fifty-percent (50%) of an initial secondary current when ten percent (10%) to twenty-five percent (25%) of a burn-time interval has passed.
Abstract:
A heat exchanger assembly having a manifold, a partition member inserted into the interior cavity of the manifold through an open end such that the partition member cooperates with the interior surface of the manifold to partition the interior cavity into a manifold chamber and a distributor/collector chamber. The partition member and distributor/collector chamber functions together as a distributor/collector tube within the manifold. The partition member includes a plurality of orifices along a length of the partition member, two opposite facing flange portions along the length of the partition member, a bulkhead panel extending from an end of the partition member adjacent the open end of the manifold, and a spring locator tab panel extending from an end of the partition member opposite of the bulk head panel, wherein the spring locator tab panel is biased against the closed end.
