Abstract:
The subject matter disclosed herein provides methods for conducting tests on a medical device. A request to conduct a test on a medical device module remotely located from a party initiating the request can be received. The module can have an inductive receiver and be part of a medical device system having an inductive backplane and multiple mounting seats. Each mounting seat can have an inductive transmitter, and the module can be inductively powered when affixed to a first mounting seat. The test can relate to an attribute of the first mounting seat's inductive transmitter or the module's inductive receiver. The request can identify the module and test to conducted. A message representative of the request can be transmitted to the system. Test data relating to an attribute of the inductive transmitter or inductive receiver can be received and provided. Related methods, apparatus, systems, techniques and articles are also described.
Abstract:
A system includes an inductive backplane, at least one communications interface, a control unit and an intelligent power module. The inductive backplane is configured to secure and inductively power a plurality of detachable medical device modules. The control unit controls, via the at least one communications interface, at least one attribute of each medical device module when the medical device module is secured to the inductive backplane. The intelligent power module monitors at least one parameter of the detachable medical device modules. Related apparatus, systems, techniques and articles are also described.
Abstract:
A patient care system includes a control unit capable of coupling with multiple modular medical devices. A modular medical device can be coupled with the control unit, wherein the behavior of the modular medical device automatically adjusts based on the status of being coupled or un-coupled with the control unit.
Abstract:
A medical device controller operating in conjunction with a medical device determines one or more current versions of executable code associated with one or more processors in a medical device. Medical devices may include infusion pumps, other patient treatment devices as well as vital signs monitors. The medical device controller determines one or more current versions of executable code and configuration information associated with the one or more processors in the medical device. The medical device controller further determines which of the processors in the medical device require updated executable code, and which of the processors in the medical device require updated configuration information. The medical device controller distributes to the medical device as required at least one of the updated executable code and the updated configuration information. The medical device deploys the distributed updates, and activates the updates at a clinically appropriate time.
Abstract:
Systems for use with a medical device for controlling an infusion device are provided. In one aspect, a system includes an infusion device that is configurable with operating limit parameters for providing medication to a patient, and a limiting system. The limiting system receives laboratory information associated with a patient, compares current operating parameters of the infusion device with the operating limit parameters in view of the laboratory information for the patient before and during administration of the medication to the patient by the infusion device, determines that administration of the medication by the infusion device should be prevented based on comparing the operating parameters with the operating limit parameters in view of the laboratory information and, responsive to determining that the operation should be prevented, prevents the administration of the medication by the infusion device, and generates a notification indicating that the operating limit parameters require modification.

Abstract:
The systems, methods and articles described herein are directed to at least one pressure sensor along a downstream fluid line which senses fluid pressure and assists an occlusion detection feature in determining the presence of occlusions in the downstream fluid line. In addition, the system can dynamically adapt the occlusion detection feature based on a delivery of fluid, such as a bolus, in order to prevent the system from creating a false alarm regarding an occlusion of the downstream fluid line.

Abstract:
Systems for use with a medical device for reducing medication errors are provided. In one aspect, a system includes a medical device that is configurable with operating limit parameters for providing medication to a patient, and a limiting system. The limiting system includes a memory that includes patient-specific information for the patient and a database includes acceptable operating parameters for providing the medication to the patient using the medical device, and a processor. The processor is configured to compare the acceptable operating parameters with the patient-specific information, and provide a modification of the operating limit parameters for providing the medication to the patient based on the comparison of the acceptable operating parameters with the patient-specific information. Methods and machine-readable media are also provided.
