Abstract:
Concentric piston and cylinder components of a hydraulic slave cylinder used with a clutch release bearing have their axial movement under a biassing spring limited by latch means in the form of flanges. The flanges each have a radial face and a chamfered face, and one flange is radially deformable, being on a slotted cylindrical extension. The radially deformable flange allows the cylinder to be rapidly assembled without the need for assembly of a separate retaining device.
Abstract:
An electronic clutch control system for a friction clutch for starting a vehicle from rest has a clutch position control loop in which the actual clutch position feed-back signal is modified to compensate for changes in clutch characteristic. An engine speed control loop: clutch, engine, engine speed sensor, processed signals, clutch actuator control includes a switchable integrator. A wear compensation signal is added to the clutch position feed-back signal which is then subject to gain control in a gain control device in response to changes in slope of the torque-capacity/clutch position characteristic.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a self-aligning clutch release bearing assembly comprising a rolling element bearing having a rotary race which in use engages with a clutch member, and a non-rotary race mounted on a support for transmission of a clutch release load. The non-rotary race is relatively movable on the support transversely to the rotary axis of the bearing assembly to permit in use self-alignment of the rotary axis of the bearing with rotary axis of the clutch member. This movement is controlled by a layer of viscous material interposed between the support and the non-rotary race. The viscous material exhibits some resilience and up to a given value resistance to plastic flow so that the material locates the non-rotary race but allows it to move to achieve self-alignment on operation of the clutch in use.
Abstract:
This invention relates to an air powered braking system for a vehicle. The air pressure in the front and rear brake systems is regulated by a respective one of a pair of air pressure valves. The air valves are hydraulically controlled and each valve (16) and (26) is independently connected to a driver operable hydraulic master cylinder so that the air pressure in each of the front or rear systems is proportional to the hydraulic pressure generated at the master cylinder (11). A hydraulic reducing valve is interposed in the hydraulic circuit between the master cylinder and the rear brake system air valve and operation of the reducing valve reduces the hydraulic pressure to that air valve and hence reduces the air pressure to the rear brakes relative to the air pressure to the front brakes.
Abstract:
This invention relates to clutch driven plates having an annular component which carries the friction facings and which is mounted for limited rotary movement on a hub so that it extends between a pair of radially extending discs which are fixed to the hub by engagement of serrations formed at their inner peripheral edges in grooves in the hub. The hub has three spaced annular rims which co-operate to form two spaced annular grooves. The two outer rims taper outwardly and the central rim, which is cylindrical, locates a cylindrical spacer which spaces the disc apart. The grooves which receive the serrations are formed in the outer rims. During assembly of the clutch driven plate, the discs are forced axially on to the hub. The grooves are cut by the serrations during assembly and the material that is cut from each rim of the hub by the formation of the grooves is directed into the adjacent annular groove. Once the disc are located against the spacer, the hub is deformed to retain the discs on the hub.

The present invention relates to an antimicrobial composition suitable for use on skin and wounds comprising a source of an antimicrobial metal ion and a quaternary cationic surfactant.
Abstract:
An immersion mold for a medical device balloon. The mold has a cavity adapted to receive a hollow parison expandable therein to form the balloon. The cavity has a length, a first end, a second end, and a cavity wall with inner and outer surfaces. The mold form cavity wall is provided with one or a plurality of through-holes along the length thereof to facilitate entrance and egress of a heated fluid.
Abstract:
Medical device balloons are formed from a tubular parison by a process or apparatus which establishes a controlled location (initiation zone) on the parison where radial expansion is initiated. Initiation within the initiation zone is achieved by heating the parison in that location to a higher temperature than the remainder of the parison for at least a portion of the blowing time. A variety of apparatus configurations are provided, some of which allow for the size and location of the initiation zone to be readily reconfigured. Balloons can also be modified, post-blowing, using heating apparatus and methods described.

Abstract:
The invention provides for the use of an effective amount of silver in the manufacture of a wound dressing comprising an anionic polymer, which dressing, when applied to the wound, gives a controlled release of ionic silver into the wound fluid for the prevention of staining of the underlying tissue.
