摘要: An embodiment of a method of manufacturing a downhole fluid control apparatus includes generating, using a processor, a design for a metallic porous structure configured to be deployed with a fluid control device, the fluid control device configured to be disposed in a borehole in an earth formation and inhibit the flow of particulates between a flow conduit and at least one of the borehole and the formation. The method also includes applying an energy beam from an energy source to a granular metallic material, and additively forming the metallic porous structure based on the design as a single structure having a distribution of pores therein.

摘要: A composite particle comprises a core, a shielding layer deposited on the core, and further comprising an interlayer region formed at an interface of the shielding layer and the core, the interlayer region having a reactivity less than that of the core, and the shielding layer having a reactivity less than that of the interlayer region, a metallic layer not identical to the shielding layer and deposited on the shielding layer, the metallic layer having a reactivity less than that of the core, and optionally, an adhesion metal layer deposited on the metallic layer.

The carbon composites contain carbon microstructures having interstitial spaces among the carbon microstructures; and a binder disposed in at least some of the interstitial spaces; wherein the carbon microstructures comprise unfilled voids within the carbon microstructures. Alternatively, the composition further comprises an activation material comprising a thermite, a mixture of Al and Ni, or a combination comprising at least one of the foregoing and a method of deploying an apparatus comprising such a composition includes exposing the composition to a selected form of energy.

摘要: A nanomatrix carbon composite is disclosed. The nanomatrix carbon composite includes a substantially-continuous, cellular nanomatrix comprising a nanomatrix material. The composite also includes a plurality of dispersed particles comprising a particle core material that comprises an allotrope of carbon dispersed in the nanomatrix and a bond layer extending throughout the nanomatrix between the dispersed particles. The nanomatrix carbon composites are uniquely lightweight, high-strength, high thermal conductivity materials that also provide uniquely selectable and controllable corrosion properties, including very rapid corrosion rates, useful for making a wide variety of degradable or disposable articles, including various downhole tools and components.

The article includes at least one corrodible core member comprising a first material that is corrodible in a wellbore fluid at a first corrosion rate. The article also includes at least one outer member disposed on the core member and comprising a second material that is corrodible in the wellbore fluid at a second corrosion rate, wherein the corrodible core member has a composition gradient or a density gradient, or a combination thereof, and wherein the first corrosion rate is substantially greater than the second corrosion rate.
