The present disclosure relates to bacteriophage lysins useful for the reduction of certain bacterial populations, including methods and compositions for the treatment of various bacterial infections. For example, bacteriophage lysins were isolated and shown to effectively kill various bacteria, including both E. faecalis and E. faecium (including vancomycin resistant strains), as well as other human pathogens.

By identifying molecules in the cell wall of bacteria responsible for binding bacteriophage lytic enzymes, the present invention focuses on the pathways for possible antibiotic development. The pathway for the bacterial molecule is critical for bacterial survival and thus serves as a target for antibiotic identification.

A method and apparatus are provided for implementing power saving in a content addressable memory (CAM). A compare array is matched against a key and if a match occurs then logic coupled to the compare array generates a hit signal. A data array includes precharge circuitry and data output latches to capture the data output. A clock gate coupled to the logic provides clock signals to the output latches and precharge circuitry of the data array when a hit occurs. When a hit does not occur, the clock signals are gated off to the output latches and precharge circuitry of the data array.

A laminated panel for use as a display panel has a polystyrene plastic core and a cellulosic surface on each face of the core. The surface layers are impregnated with a resin formulation containing an optical brightener, and optionally a dye, and then pressed onto each face of the core to form the laminate. The finished panel is found to have outstanding brightness, and can be imprinted using a flat bed digital printed to produce signage for a variety of consumer applications.

By locating the controller (30) as close as possible to feedback potentiometer (22) problems caused by background electrical noise are minimized.
