    摘要: An engine control system for an internal combustion engine comprises a combustion system for changing over a combustion mode from a first mode such as a stratified charge combustion mode to a second mode such as a homogeneous charge combustion mode, and an EGR system for controlling an EGR flow to the engine with an EGR control valve. A controller calculates a delayed target equivalent ratio which varies gradually from a first ratio for the first mode to a second ratio for the second mode, and further calculates a modified target equivalent ratio in consideration of an amount of an EGR gas. The controller determines the combustion changeover timing by monitoring a parameter based on the modified target equivalent ratio to take account of the influence of the EGR gas.

    摘要: Pressure detection means detects the pressure of an evaporation purge system that includes a fuel tank and a communicating tube, which connects a canister for adsorbing and retaining fuel vapor to an intake pipe. Shutout means shuts out the evaporation purge system from atmospheric air. A pump is driven for pressurization or depressurization purposes while the shutout means shuts out the evaporation purge system from atmospheric air. The pump is stopped when the pressure detected by the pressure detection means reaches a predetermined level. A leak judgment is formulated in accordance with pump drive time and a pressure change after pump stoppage.

A control apparatus of an engine wherein a lean NOx catalyst having a function of storing the NOx discharged from a combustion chamber in the lean operation mode, and desorbing and cleaning the stored NOx in the rich operation mode is provided in an exhaust path. This control apparatus comprises: a sensor for detecting the amount or concentration of NOx downstream from the lean NOx catalyst; calculation means A for calculating the amount of NOx downstream from the lean NOx catalyst in the lean operation mode, based on the output from this sensor, calculation means B for calculating the amount of NOx stored in the lean NOx catalyst; and means for calculating the NOx storage capacity of the lean NOx catalyst and the amount of NOx discharged from the combustion chamber in the lean operation mode, based on the results of calculations by the calculation means A and B.

    摘要: Control device of an internal combustion engine that determines whether or not to perform sensor element heating control of an air-fuel ratio sensor with high accuracy based on the mass of condensed water in an exhaust pipe. The control device computes the rate of change of condensed water mass in an exhaust pipe based on the saturated water vapor pressure and the water vapor partial pressure of exhaust gas, and computes the rate of change of evaporation mass in the exhaust pipe based on the amount of heat which the condensed water receives in the exhaust pipe. The control device updates the mass of condensed water based on the rate of change of condensed water mass and the rate of change of evaporation mass, and determines whether or not to perform heating control by a heating controlling unit based on the updated mass of condensed water.
