    摘要: A dual mode continuously variable transmission for use with motor vehicles includes a transmission input shaft, a transmission output shaft, and a variator disposed between the transmission input shaft and the transmission output shaft. A mixer gear set is operably disposed between the transmission input shaft and the variator output shaft. A clutching element is operably disposed between the input shaft the mixer gear set. The variator is configured to continuously vary a ratio of input torque to output torque between the variator shafts responsive to commands from an electronic control unit. The variator input shaft is drivingly connected to the input shaft and the variator output shaft is drivingly connected to the output shaft. The clutching element selectively connects and disconnects the input shaft and the mixer gear set to operate the transmission in a power splitting mode of operation and a variator only mode of operation. An electronic control unit incorporates logic rules by which the clutching element maintains the transmission in a variator-only mode of operation in a first vehicle speed range, and maintains the transmission in a power splitting mode of operation in a second vehicle speed range greater than the first vehicle speed range.

    摘要: A continuously variable transmission for use with motor vehicles includes an ECU, an automated gear unit, a variator, an input gear set, an input fixed ratio element and an output fixed ratio element. The automated gear unit has multiple selectively engaged gear ratios and engages one of the gear ratios responsive to commands from the ECU. The variator varies a ratio of torque between its input and outout shafts responsive to commands from the ECU. The variator output shaft is connected to the gear unit input shaft. The input gear set is connected to the variator input shaft. The input fixed ratio element reduces torque from the input gear set to the variator, and is disposed between the input gear set and the variator input shaft. The output fixed ratio element increases the torque from the variator, and is disposed between the variator output shaft and the gear unit input shaft.

    摘要: A control for determining the state of adjustment or misadjustment of a master friction clutch (14) in a vehicular automated mechanical transmission system (10). A system controller (24) receives input signals (26) indicative of the engaged or disengaged condition of the master clutch, the rotational speed of the transmission input shaft (IS) and the engaged or disengaged condition of the mechanical transmission (16). When the master clutch and the transmission both are disengaged, the rate of change of input shaft speed (dIS/dt) is compared to a predetermined reference value, and if the rate of deceleration of the input shaft speed is less than said reference value, significant master clutch misadjustment is determined and corrective action is initiated. Corrective action may include causing a display (48) to signal the operator that the master clutch is improperly adjusted and/or operating an input shaft brake (50) in a fault-tolerant mode.

    摘要: An improved pin-type synchronizer assembly (10) is provided utilizing improved synchronizer pin assemblies (64, 66) which eliminate the need for separate pre-energizing devices. The synchronizer pin assemblies preferably are mounted at each end thereof to a synchronizer ring (52, 54) and include a large diameter portion (68) adjacent one of the synchronizer rings, a small outer diameter portion (70) adjacent the other of the synchronizer rings, and an intermediate outer diameter portion (72) axially intermediate the large and small outer diameter portions. A baulking ramp (96) is defined between the intermediate and large outer diameter portions. The large outer diameter portion (68) is axially movable relative to the synchronizer ring adjacent thereto, and is resiliently biased by a spring (114) or the like to an offset position away from the synchronizer ring adjacent thereto and against a stop member (112).
