Abstract: Provided is a composite material that shows a low specific dielectric constant, and that hardly causes an appearance failure or changes in characteristics when exposed to, for example, a treatment liquid to be used in the production of an electronic circuit board. Specifically, a plate-like composite material including polytetrafluoroethylene and a predetermined filler, and satisfying a predetermined condition serves as a composite material that shows a low specific dielectric constant, and that hardly causes an appearance failure or changes in characteristics even when exposed to, for example, a treatment liquid to be used in the production of an electronic circuit board.

Abstract: A precipitated silica having a broad particle size distribution and large median particle size as well as its method of manufacture is provided. The precipitated silica has a CTAB surface area SCTAB in the range from 40 to 300 m2/g, a difference between BET surface area SBET and CTAB surface area SCTAB of at least 35 m2/g, a width of the particle size distribution Ld, measured by centrifugal sedimentation, of at least 1.5, an amount of aluminium WA1 in the range from 0.5 to 7.0 wt %, and a median particle size d50, measured by centrifugal sedimentation, such that for a given value of CTAB surface area SCTAB and amount of aluminium WAl, parameter A, defined by the following equation: A=|d50|+0.782×|SCTAB|−8.524×|WAl|.

Abstract: A flexible polyurethane foam comprises up to 10 wt % of a fumed silica having a surface area from 50 to 150 m2/g, wherein the fumed silica has C1-C3 alkylsilyl groups at its surface, the flexible polyurethane foam exhibiting has a resilience of at least 40%, for example, from 40% to 70%, a dry compression set no greater than 15%, for example, from 3% to 15%, or both. Alternatively in addition, the flexible polyurethane foam may have a compression force deflection at 50% as measured by ASTM D3574 that is at least 30%, for example, at least 50%, at least 70%, or from 30% to 155%, greater than a flexible polyurethane foam having the same composition but with polyol replacing the silica.

Abstract: A pneumatic tire comprises a tread rubber with a groove depth at a shoulder portion that comes into contact with a road surface of 10 mm or greater. A rubber composition of the tread rubber contains: 60 to 70 parts by mass of carbon black having a nitrogen adsorption specific surface area of 70 to 130 m2/g, 0.5 parts or greater by mass of sulfur, and a vulcanization accelerator per 100 parts by mass of diene rubber including 50 to 70 mass % of styrene-butadiene rubber, 20 to 30 mass % of butadiene rubber, and 10 to 30 mass % of natural rubber. The diene rubber has an average glass transition temperature of −65° C. or lower. A ratio of a compounded amount of the vulcanization accelerator to a compounded amount of the sulfur is 1.0 to 1.3. The tread rubber has a rubber hardness of 65 to 70 at 20° C.

Abstract: A composition comprises: a resin component including an olefin-aromatic vinyl compound-aromatic polyene copolymer satisfying all the following conditions (1) to (4): (1) a number average molecular weight of the copolymer is 500 or more and 100000 or less; (2) the aromatic vinyl compound monomer is an aromatic vinyl compound having 8 or more and 20 or less carbon atoms, and a content of a unit of the aromatic vinyl compound monomer is 0 mass % or more and 70 mass % or less; (3) the aromatic polyene is one or more selected from polyenes having 5 or more and 20 or less carbon atoms and having a plurality of vinyl groups and/or vinylene groups in the molecule, and a content of the vinyl groups and/or the vinylene groups derived from the unit of the aromatic polyene is 1.5 pieces or more and less than 20 pieces per number average molecular weight; and (4) the olefin is one or more selected from olefins having 2 or more and 20 or less carbon atoms, and a total of units of the olefin monomer, the aromatic vinyl compound monomer, and the aromatic polyene monomer is 100 mass %; and a surface-treated silica. The volume ratio between the resin component and the silica is in the range of 98 to 15:2 to 85. A cured product of the composition has a value of the dielectric tangent obtained by resonator method at a measurement frequency of 10 GHz and/or a measurement frequency range of 25 GHz to 40 GHz of 1.2×10−3 or less and a storage elastic modulus at 250° C. in the range of 10 MPa or more and 10 GPa or less.
