Abstract: A stain resistant coating composition includes: urethane acrylate core-shell particles including (1) a polymeric acrylic core; and (2) a polymeric shell including a urethane linkage. The polymeric shell is formed from a reaction mixture including an isocyanate and a polyol. The polyol is substantially free of a six or more consecutive methylene group chain and/or the polyol is formed from monomers comprising a monomer content including at least 10 wt % substituted polyol and/or substituted polyacid and/or at least 25 wt % polyol or polyacid containing cyclic content, based on the total weight of the monomers forming the polyol.

Abstract: A method for treating a surface of a microporous membrane includes: (1) contacting at least one surface of the membrane with a treatment composition including: (a) an acrylic polymer prepared from a mixture of vinyl monomers including: (i) a (meth)acrylic acid monomer and (ii) a silane-functional acrylic monomer; and (b) a base, where the acrylic polymer is in contact with the filler present in the matrix; and (2) subjecting the membrane of (1) to conditions sufficient to effect a condensation reaction between the filler and the acrylic polymer. A treated microporous membrane and an aqueous treatment composition are also disclosed.

Abstract: An insulated pipe includes an elongated tube having a first end, a second end, and a sidewall extending therebetween; and an insulating member at least partially enclosing a portion of the sidewall, including at least one channel extending through at least a portion thereof. The insulated pipe also includes at least one coaxial moisture sensor positioned within at least a portion of the channel configured to sense moisture in the channel. The at least one coaxial moisture sensor includes: a dielectric member having a sleeve defining a center hole formed from an absorbent dielectric polymer material; an outer electrode electrically connected with an outer surface of the dielectric member including a moisture permeable sleeve which permits moisture to pass to the dielectric member; and an inner electrode having a wire extending through the center hole of and electrically connected with an inner surface of the dielectric member.

Abstract: The present invention includes a process for producing treated filler that includes (a) treating a slurry that includes untreated filler, where the untreated filler has not been previously dried, with a treating composition that includes a treating agent, thereby forming a treated filler slurry, and (b) drying the treated filler slurry to produce treated filler. The treating agent can include a polymer having (i) at least one first group that interacts with the untreated filler and (ii) at least one second group that interacts with a rubber matrix into which the treated filler is incorporated. The present invention also is directed to treated filler prepared by the process, as well as rubber compounding compositions and tires including the treated filler.
