    摘要: An improved brazing alloy paste comprises a brazing alloy powder mixed with a ductile metal spacer powder comprised of spherical particles with a predetermined diameter limit and having a higher melting temperature than that of the alloy, both powders being suspended in a gel-like substance. This composite paste produces a brazed joint having a gap with a controlled width and the ductile metal absorbs stresses developed between dissimilar brazed parts as when a tungsten carbide tool bit and the supporting steel shank cool after they are brazed together. The quantity of spherical spacer powder in the mixture is limited to 1-8% by weight of the mixture, preferably 5%, in order to prevent stacking of the spheres and to insure a gap spacing determined by the diameter of the spheres.

    摘要: Disclosed is an integrated lead suspension flexure attachment structure for a micro-actuator with a slider/transducer assembly attached thereto, having a plurality of electrical terminals for both the micro-actuator and the transducer. The suspension provides low gimbal stiffness and allows the slider to have correct pitch and roll static attitudes. An attachment platform is provided for mechanically attaching the micro-actuator. Two elongate cantilever compliance members extend from the transducer edge and the opposite edge of the attachment platform. Two lead termination platforms are provided, each at the distal end of one of the compliance members. The lead termination platforms extend laterally to either side of the compliance members. Electrical leads are positioned laterally of each of the lead termination platforms on either side, and loop towards the compliance member to the lead termination platform to reduce stiffness of the leads. The two lead termination platforms each supports the electrical leads at either side of the compliance member and the compliance members allow flex between the attachment platform and the lead terminations for connecting the leads to the micro-actuator.

    摘要: A method is disclosed for fabricating an electrical connection between first and second electrical pads. A solder bump is formed on the first electrical pad covering only a portion of the pad, the portion located at a side of the first electrical pad, leaving a vacant portion of the first electrical pad at the opposite side of the first electrical pad from the solder bump. The first and second electrical pads are positioned at an intersecting angle, the second pad extending towards the first electrical pad to intersect the first electrical pad at the vacant portion of the first electrical pad and at a distance less than the height of the solder bump. The solder bump is reflowed, the surface tension thereof causing the solder bump to flow into the vacant portion of the first electrical pad to contact the second electrical pad. The movement of the solder bump towards the vacant end of the first pad allows a connection to be made despite some misalignment between the first pad and the second pad. This movement therefore allows connections to be made between termination pads of an integrated lead suspension and the conductors of a multiconductor flex cable.

    摘要: MR heads having MR sensors are protected against damage caused by electrostatic discharge or the presence of electrostatically charged fields. A shunt is provided across the adjacent conductive leads or traces to the MR sensor at a point that is immediately adjacent their termination on the MR head. A solder bridge may be used for the shunt. The solder shunt is removed prior to putting the integrated suspension on which the MR head is mounted into operation in a magnetic disk drive system. The solder shunt is removed by reflowing the solder and drawing the reflowed solder away from the leads to break electrical connection of the shunt across the adjacent leads to the MR sensor. To facilitate removing the shunt by reflowing the solder, at least one solder lobe of a chosen geometry is placed adjacent a lead. This lobe includes a confining lobe which serves to confine the solder in the shunt region when the shunt is formed, and a designated portion which serves to draw the solder to a designated location away from the shunt region upon subsequent solder reflow, thereby causing a physical break in the shunt. Physical removal of the solder material would not be required. The shunt may also be in the form of an integral bridge of conductive material interconnecting the adjacent leads, which is removed by using a laser to melt the material.
