摘要: A method for robotic knee surgery on a femur and tibia of a knee joint. A navigation system tracks positions of the femur and tibia during the surgery as the femur and tibia move during the surgery. Information relating to the tracked positions of the femur and tibia is communicated from the navigation system to the robotic system. This information is used to guide movement of a cutting tool of the robotic system relative to the femur and tibia so that material from the femur and tibia can be removed by the cutting tool without the use of physical resection guides.

摘要: A guide sleeve that is deformable or splittable, for use in threading a surgical screw therethrough and into a drilled hole (24) at a surgical site for repair of a fractured bone. The guide sleeve has an inner diameter only as large as the screw shank, not its enlarged head, and the incision need only have a general diameter as large as the guide sleeve outer diameter, causing less trauma and permitting faster healing. A surgical drill may first be inserted through the guide sleeve for drilling the hole through the bone portions traversing the fracture. A surgical screw with enlarged head is then inserted into the guide sleeve to be threaded into the drilled hole, with the enlarged screw head temporarily and locally enlarging the guide sleeve as it passes therethrough until fully threaded into the drilled hole.

摘要: Embodiments of instrumentation and methods are provided for the insertion of intervertebral disc prosthesis. The instrumentation of the embodiments comprises a guide comprising at least two lateral faces, at least one upper plate, at least one lower plate, at least one retainer, a cage defining an insertion axis for the prosthesis, and an angle adjuster adapted to adjust an angle formed by the insertion axis and an antero-posterior sagittal axis; and at least one separator sized to maintain a gap between the upper vertebra and the lower vertebra. Methods for implanting a prosthesis using the disclosed instrumentation comprise implanting a pin in the median sagittal axis of a vertebrae; measuring the dimensions of the intervertebral space; choosing the prosthesis; choosing the guide; adjusting the angle adjuster; positioning the guide adjacent to the intervertebral space; inserting the prosthesis into the guide; and inserting the prosthesis into the intervertebral space.

摘要: A surgical access system for accessing a surgical target site within a spine includes a retractor and an elongated element. The refractor has a closed configuration defining a lumen with an internal circumference, and an open configuration in which the internal circumference, at least at the distal end of the retractor, is enlarged relative to said closed configuration. The open configuration creates and maintains an operative corridor to said target site. The elongated element is releasably coupled to an interior wall of the retractor and has an extension extending distal of the distal end of the retractor into the surgical target site. When coupled to the retractor, the elongated element covers a body structure at the target site without blocking access to the operative corridor.

摘要: A patient-specific acetabular guide can be used for preparing an acetabulum of a patient to receive an acetabular implant. The acetabular guide includes a patient-specific engagement surface designed to be complementary and mateable with a corresponding surface of the patient's pelvic anatomy. The acetabular guide is designed during a pre-operative plan for the patient by a three-dimensional reconstruction of the anatomy of the patient using two-dimensional medical images. The patient-specific engagement surface has a first portion mateable with a portion of the acetabulum of the patient. The acetabular guide includes a guiding element that extends from the acetabular guide opposite to the first portion of engagement surface. The guiding element defines a bore designed to be oriented along an alignment axis for an acetabular implant when the acetabular guide is engaged to the acetabulum.

摘要: Described herein are elongate device for modifying tissue having a plurality of flexibly connected rungs or links, and methods of using them, including methods of using them to decompress stenotic spinal tissue. These devices may be included as part of a system for modifying tissue. In general, these devices include a plurality of blades positioned on (or formed from) rungs that are flexibly connected. The rungs are typically rigid, somewhat flat and wider than they are long (e.g., rectangular). The rungs may be arranged, ladder like, and may be connected by a flexible connector substrate or between two or more cables. Different sized rungs may be used. The blades (on the rungs) may be arranged in a staggered arrangement. A tissue-collection or tissue capture element (e.g., chamber, bag, or the like) may be used to collect the cut or modified tissue. In some variations the tissue modification devices may have a non-linear axial shape, or may be converted from a first axial shape to a second axial shape.

摘要: The invention relates to a resetting tool (1a), for the axial displacement of a Kirschner wire (2a), in particular, for application with bone plates, which may be implanted for the fixing of fractures. The above comprises a Kirschner wire (2a), comprising a thread in at least a part region and at least one guide tube (4a, 4b), by means of which the Kirschner wire may be positioned. A nut (3a) is provided, which is slotted and contains an internal drilling, such that the nut may be placed over the Kirschner wire and may be supported on the guide tube, whereby the Kirschner wire may be displaced in the axial direction by means of rotation of the nut.
