    Abstract: A treatment tool for an endoscope includes: a distal end member attached to a distal end of an endoscope; a treatment part; a tube that is arranged in an axis direction of the endoscope and has a lumen formed therein; an insertion part that is inserted into the lumen and has a distal end to which the treatment part is fixed; a connecting member that connects the tube and the distal end member; a first pivot that couples the connecting member and the tube; and a second pivot that couples the connecting member and the distal end member. The second pivot is provided at a position at which the connecting member is capable of rotating such that the first pivot is moved from a position at a proximal end side relative to the second pivot to a position at a distal end side.

    Abstract: A steerable electrosurgical electrode is provided. The steerable electrosurgical electrode comprises a handle, a control element, a first tube, a second tube, a third tube, an electrode and an electrical transmission unit. The handle has a flat area therein, the control element has a plurality of positioning planes and pivotally connects to the handle such that one of the positioning planes rotatably abuts against the flat area, the first tube is positioned inside the second tube and pivotally connected to the control element, the third tube is connected to the second and the first tubes through a first and a second links, respectively, and the electrode is configured at the right end of the third tube. A user may manipulate the control element such that it abuts against the flat area at different positioning planes, to move the first tube inside the second tube, which in turns rotates the third tube and the electrode.

    Abstract: An endoscopic surgical instrument for deploying a two part fastener having a male fastener part and a female fastener part, includes a tube having a proximal end and a distal end. An end effector is coupled to said distal end of said tube and is configured to hold the male fastener part and the female fastener part in opposed relation. An actuator is coupled to said proximal end of said tube and is configured to actuate the end effector. A shearing device may be positioned proximate the end effector to shear off a tip of the male fastener part after the male and female fastener parts are moved into locking relation. In addition, the surgical instrument may include a male fastener part having a shaft with a plurality of detent positions. Further, the male fastener part may include a base and a shaft pivotally connected to the base.

    Abstract: A control apparatus for use in endoscopes or the like is provided which allows a user to work without fatigue. The control apparatus includes a proximal and distal end sections, each of which has an articulation zone, and a central section arranged therebetween, an outer hollow-cylindrical shaft, an inner cylindrical shaft, and a control element arranged between the shafts and having two or more force-transmitting longitudinal elements extending substantially from the proximal to the distal end section for coupling movement of the distal end section with movement of the proximal articulation section.
