Abstract: A surgical device includes a loading unit having proximal and distal portions. The proximal portion of the loading unit is configured to be attached to an actuation apparatus. The surgical device further includes a flexible shaft interconnecting the proximal portion and the distal portion of the loading unit. Additionally, the surgical device has a tool assembly disposed in mechanical cooperation with the distal portion of the loading unit. The tool assembly is configured to articulate upon activation of the actuation apparatus. In a further embodiment, the surgical device includes a guiding member operatively connected to the tool assembly. The guiding member has a body and a bore extending through the body. The bore slidably receives a suture.

Abstract: An instrument system for minimally invasive surgery in single port technology, having a trocar and at least one instrument channel which runs at the trocar from proximal to distal and a proximal end remaining extra-corporally when the trocar is inserted into the body of a patient, and a distal end located intra-corporally, wherein a semi-flexible instrument can be inserted through the instrument channel in such a manner that the operating handle thereof remains extra-corporal and the distal working element thereof emerges distally from the instrument channel. The instrument channel is flexibly pliant, stable in the longitudinal direction thereof and arranged outside on the trocar. The distal end of the instrument channel is fixed to the trocar.

The second pivot is provided at a position at which the connecting member is capable of rotating such that the first pivot is moved from a position at a proximal end side relative to the second pivot to a position at a distal end side.

Abstract: A steerable electrosurgical electrode is provided. The steerable electrosurgical electrode comprises a handle, a control element, a first tube, a second tube, a third tube, an electrode and an electrical transmission unit. The handle has a flat area therein, the control element has a plurality of positioning planes and pivotally connects to the handle such that one of the positioning planes rotatably abuts against the flat area, the first tube is positioned inside the second tube and pivotally connected to the control element, the third tube is connected to the second and the first tubes through a first and a second links, respectively, and the electrode is configured at the right end of the third tube. A user may manipulate the control element such that it abuts against the flat area at different positioning planes, to move the first tube inside the second tube, which in turns rotates the third tube and the electrode.

Abstract: An endoscopic surgical instrument for deploying a two part fastener having a male fastener part and a female fastener part, includes a tube having a proximal end and a distal end. An end effector is coupled to said distal end of said tube and is configured to hold the male fastener part and the female fastener part in opposed relation.
