Abstract:
A wheel and tire assembly which includes inner and outer tubeless tires mounted on the wheel. The two tires together define inner and outer air chambers which are pressurized through separate air valves. The outer tire includes a plurality of radially spaced projections on its inner surface which define passageway between the inner and outer tires at their respective beads to allow the filling of the outer chamber. The inner tire may include a bevelled end portion at its bead to further facilitate filling of the outer chamber.
Abstract:
A device for locking the beads of a tire against flanges of a multi-piece rim comprises two main parts. The first part having an approximately cylindrical shape is formed essentially of a flexible material. It is strapped by a second part which is nonextensible radially.
Abstract:
A wheel is disclosed for use on land vehicles such as small manually drawn trailers and similar carriers, the wheel having a tire supporting rim (12) and a low pressure tire (48) engaging the rim, the tire comprising a thin walled torus (50) of elastomeric material, the torus having an inner diameter surface (52) engaging the rim, an inflation valve (54) and an outer diameter surface (56) for contacting a soft or irregular support surface; so that, the tire deforms or flattens substantially when it contacts such surfaces with an axle load applied to the wheel, thereby facilitating movement of a vehicle over such surfaces. A method of moving such vehicles is also disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a pneumatic safety tire, which is provided with a ring-shaped projection of high rigidity along its circumferential direction, outside of at least one bead of the pneumatic tire, wherein the projection has a smaller diameter than the diameter of the rim flange to which the tire is fitted. The ring-shaped projection is designed so that it projects to the outside along the rim flange, and moreover, the tire is adhered integrally by vulcanization together with two ring-shaped elastic reinforcements and halogenated butyl rubber-containing protective layer in the inside of the tire at each position corresponding to the portion from the sidewall to the adjacent shoulder. Thus, the purpose of the invention is to provide a pneumatic safety tire, which can be driven safely without there happening such an accident as separation of the bead of the tire from the rim during running, even when the tire is run flat and moreover, has a good stability and durability in running also in such a state.
Abstract:
A tubeless tire and rim assembly including an annular bead lock in the form of an endless train of lock elements interconnected by flexible joints. The bead lock can have not only a fully expanded circular configuration to fit over the rim base but also a partly folded configuration to lie within the inner peripheral circle of the tire. This particularly facilitates the mounting of such bead lock while effectively preventing any improper positioning thereof. An embodiment incorporating a flat-protector together with the bead lock is also contemplated to further improve the driving safety.
Abstract:
A rim and bead clamp construction for a pneumatic tire is described. Several elongated bead clamps are spaced about the circumference of the rim. Each bead clamp has a clamping bolt extending through a hole in the bottom of the rim and is mechanically and sealingly pressed against the rim bottom. Each bead clamp has jaws at its distal ends for pressing the beads of the pneumatic tire fimly against the rim flanges.
Abstract:
This is a means for sealing an inner tubing within a casing, or tire, particularly for wheel rims having two pieces, such as on trucks, and having means for sealing the inner tube in the casing consisting of a flexible seal between the casing and rim and means for preventing air leakage from the casing in the event of rupture of the inner tube, comprising a lock for said flexible member anchoring the flexible member to the wheel rim, and covering the valve stem opening in the rim, and having means for introducing air between said inner tube and said flexible member to accomplish the desired seal.
