    摘要: An intraocular lens for correcting or reducing the astigmatism of a cornea includes a pupil that is spatially divided into discrete zones, with each zone having a particular astigmatism magnitude and astigmatism orientation. In one embodiment, the zones all have the same astigmatism magnitude, which is equal and opposite the cornea astigmatism magnitude to within a particular tolerance, such as 0.25 diopters. In one embodiment, some or all of the zones all have different astigmatism orientations, with the angular separation between astigmatism orientations being on the order of the rotational misalignment tolerance of the lens to the cornea. The visual performance of such a lens deteriorates more slowly with rotational misalignment, when compared to a comparable lens having a uniform astigmatism orientation across its entire pupil, leading to more relaxed tolerances for a surgeon that implants the lens.

    摘要: A system for providing an intraocular lens includes a processor and a computer readable memory. The computer readable memory is configured to communicate with the processor, the memory having stored therein at least one of: one or more ocular dimensions, and at least one predetermined refractive outcome. The memory further includes a sequence of instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to select an intraocular lens, select a power of an intraocular lens, or provide an intraocular lens. The sequence of instructions includes determining one or more dimensions of an eye. The instructions also include calculating, based on a mathematical relationship, a distance from an apex of a cornea of the eye to an apex or plane of the intraocular lens after insertion into the eye. The instructions further calculating an optical power of the intraocular lens suitable for providing a predetermined refractive outcome. The mathematical relationship includes an axial length of the eye, an anterior chamber depth of the natural crystalline lens, and a corneal radius of the eye, but is independent of a thickness of the natural crystalline lens.

    摘要: A rear-loaded injector cartridge for an intraocular lens (IOL) having a proximal opening that provides a haptic slot. The haptic slot receives a leading haptic of an IOL loaded therein, and temporarily retains the leading haptic while the optic of the IOL is inserted into a holding area of the cartridge. As the optic passes by, the leading haptic folds over the top of the optic, on its anterior side. The length of the haptic retention slot is sufficient to maintain the leading haptic in its anteriorly folded position while the IOL remains in holding area, typically while the cartridge is mated with a handpiece of the injector. The cartridge also has a rear or proximal cut out which advantageously keys with a similarly-sized rail on the handpiece so that the cartridge cannot be inserted in the wrong way.
