摘要: The present document describes a method and system for providing Hybrid On Demand (HOD) software and/or data to a plurality of normal nodes associated with a work unit. The normal nodes are serviced via two or more parent nodes using different communication networks. Normal nodes, which are connected to the Local Area Network (LAN) of the work unit, may receive software and/or data services from a local node via the LAN, and normal nodes which are outside of the LAN may receive software and/or data services from a SUPR node via a Wide Area Network (WAN) such as the internet. After synchronization with one the normal nodes, the parent nodes synchronize the updated data with each other, and then they push the updated data to all the normal nodes associated with the work unit to mirror the same data on all the normal nodes. Frequencies of synchronization and provision of software and/or data services and/or updates is governed by a set of synchronization rules that are embedded in the business layer of the nodes. This scenario may also be used for synchronizing data in a cache cloud manner between the different nodes of the wide and the local networks.

摘要: Embodiments of the presently claimed invention automatically and systematically schedule jobs in a computer system thereby optimizing job throughput while simultaneously minimizing the amount of time a job waits for access to a shareable resource in the system. Such embodiments may implement a methodology that continuously pre-conditions the profile of requests submitted to a job scheduler such that the resulting schedule for the dispatch of those jobs results in optimized use of available computer system resources. Through this methodology, the intersection of the envelope of available computer system shareable resources may be considered in the context of the envelope of requested resources associated with the jobs in the system input queue. By using heuristic policies, an arrangement of allocations of available resources against requested resources may be determined thereby maximizing resource consumption on the processing system.

摘要: There is described a method for operating an inhalation chamber. A duct in the inhalation chamber extends from an opening for a source of gas to an opening for patient output, the duct comprising two portions, of which the shapes are complementary to form the duct, and displaceable in relation with each other. A MDI (or pMDI) and/or a nebulizer are connected to the inhalation chamber. A relative displacement is made between the two portions of the duct to close the duct and shunt the dead volume of the inhalation chamber, making a direct passage from the source of gas to the patient. If the nebulizer or the MDI is connected, a relative displacement is made between the two portions of the duct to open the duct to an inner volume of the inhalation chamber where the nebulizer or the MDI is dispensing aerosol. Other configurations are possible.

摘要: A flow cell assembly for use in NMR measurements on a liquid NMR sample in an NMR spectrometer has a cylindrical flow cell for receiving the NMR sample, with a first opening at a first end and a second opening at a second end, and a connecting piece arranged at the first opening for connecting a flow line to the flow cell in a fluid-tight manner. An opening diameter dop of the first opening is smaller than an inner flow cell diameter din, and a sealing head of the connecting piece is arranged in the first opening, with a sealing head diameter dseal larger than dop. For NMR measurements, the flow cell assembly is modified in such a way that the flow lines can be easily exchanged, and high-quality NMR flow measurements can be carried out independently of the orientation of the magnetic field in the NMR spectrometer.

摘要: The invention proposes preparing biological samples for spectrometry which contain cell structures and/or whole cells of human or animal origin (e.g. thin human and animal tissue sections) or prokaryotes (e.g. microorganisms), and which require constant relative humidity, in a temperature-controlled gas volume whose humidity is determined by a saturated substance solution, for example a suitable salt solution. The invention exploits a physico-chemical phenomenon called “deliquescence”, which manifests itself by keeping the relative humidity above the saturated substance solution constant with a high degree of precision when a specified temperature is maintained. Pure succinic acid exhibits deliquescence at approx. 99% relative humidity, for example. Since an enormous variety of deliquescent salts and other suitable substances are available, it is possible to find the suitable substance for almost any desired relative humidity, with adjustment of the temperature, where necessary.

摘要: A rotational device provides rotation of a location of interest about a rotational axis and includes first and second sockets each having three contact points distributed about the rotational axis. The contact points of each socket may be on convex surfaces and a spindle assembly is held between the sockets, which face each other along the rotational axis. The spindle assembly has a first convex surface centered about the rotational axis that contacts the contact points of the first socket, and a second convex surface that contacts the contact points of the second socket. The spindle assembly also has a drive shaft aligned with the rotational axis. Linear stages may be used to provide adjustment in one or more mutually perpendicular directions. An alternative embodiment uses a spindle assembly with two curved contact surfaces that contact respective curved surfaces that are adjacent to the rotational axis rather than aligned therewith.
