摘要： The invention provides a fast, scalable, room temperature process for fabricating metallic nanorods from nanoparticles or fabricating metallic or semiconducting nanorods from carbon nanotubes suspended in an aqueous solution. The assembled nanorods are suitable for use as nanoscale interconnects in CMOS-based devices and sensors. Metallic nanoparticles or carbon nanotubes are assembled into lithographically patterned vias by applying an external electric field. Since the dimensions of nanorods are controlled by the dimensions of vias, the nanorod dimensions can be scaled down to the low nanometer range. The aqueous assembly process is environmentally friendly and can be used to make nanorods using different types of metallic particles as well as semiconducting and metallic nanaotubes.

摘要： Ergonomic protective air filtration devices and methods for manufacturing the same are disclosed herein. An ergonomic protective air filtration device includes a stack of at least two layers of an air permeable material, the stack forming a body, a periphery, and a back; a plurality of intersecting three-dimensional V-shaped pleats extending from the periphery and into the stack of layers, so the back of the device defines a breathing chamber adapted to cover a mouth and a nose of the wearer; and a retaining means engaging the body of the device to secure the device to a face of the wearer and to create the breathing chamber. The ergonomic protective air filtration device provides protection against contaminated droplets, fluid splashes, solid particulates, pathogenic microorganisms, or aerosoled air pollutions.

摘要： The invention covers a novel treatment strategy that considerably improves conventional probiotic treatments of inflammatory bowel diseases, irritable bowel syndrome and other gastrointestinal disorders. Both probiotic microorganisms and the carrier of the probiotic microorganisms in form of a fermented cereal gruel are used as treatment effectors. Phospholipids may also be an effector. The novel treatment strategy is capable of removing the symptoms of inflammatory bowel diseases regardless of a mild, moderate or severe stage of the disease.

摘要： A method and composition for reducing the cholesterolemic effect in mammals of ingesting a blended nutritional fat composition containing a palm mid-fraction (PMF) hardstock fat combined with an unsaturated vegetable oil. The composition is solid or semi-solid at 20° C. and fluid at 35° C., and includes between 15% and 45% by weight linoleic acid. The weight ratio of disaturated triglyceride (DST) molecules to trisaturated triglyceride (TST) molecules is greater than 10:1, and the PMF hardstock fat contains approximately 50% to 95% by weight DST molecules, the majority of which contain either palmitic acid or a combination of palmitic and stearic acids at the sn-1 and sn-3 triglyceride positions and either oleic acid or linoleic acid at the sn-2 molecular position.

The genetic markers, including the microsatellite markers, BM4129, INRAA003, BMS2790, ILSTS029, INRA123, BM220, HUJ246, BMS862, BMS937, BL1048, BMS2095 and BMS1266 and the bovine SLC35A3 gene, are located on bovine chromosome BTA3. The G/T polymorphism at position 559 of the bovine SLC35A3 gene is identified as being causative and diagnostic for CVM in cattle.
