Abstract: An occupant detection system for an interior cabin area of a vehicle includes one or more signal conversion devices including conversion circuitry and a wireless control module including a multi-band transceiver having two or more transceivers. The wireless control module executes instructions to continuously send, by a first transceiver, signals on a first frequency band. The wireless control module executes instructions to receive, by a second transceiver, signals on a second frequency band from a signal conversion device. The wireless control module compares original training symbols from the signals on the first frequency band with training symbols from the signals on the second frequency band to determine a change in value of in one or more channel state information (CSI) parameters, and determines one or more occupants are present within the interior cabin area of the vehicle based on the change in one or more CSI parameters.

Abstract: A system for predicting a door opening event of a vehicle includes an identity recognition device associated with an individual occupant profile. The system also includes one or more controllers in electronic communication with the identity recognition device, where the one or more controllers store one or more individual occupant profiles in memory of the one or more controllers that includes historical occupant behavior exhibited by one or more occupants associated with the identity recognition device. The one or more controllers execute instructions to determine a predetermined condition has occurred, where the predetermined condition indicates the vehicle is undergoing a potential engine off event. The one or more controllers determine a door opening event probability value based on at least the gear position probability value and the engine off probability value.

Abstract: A system is provided for mitigating a road network congestion. The system includes a plurality of motor vehicles positioned in associated locations in a road network. Each vehicle has one or more sensors generating an input and a Telematics Control Unit (TCU) for generating at least one location signal for a location of the associated motor vehicle and at least one event signal for an event related to the associated motor vehicle, with the location signal and the event signal corresponding to a High Speed Vehicle Telemetry Data (HSVT data) based on the input from the sensors. The system further includes a computer, which communicates with a display device and the TCUs. The computer includes a processor and a computer readable medium including instructions, such that the processor is programmed to identify the congestion and determine that the congestion is a recurring or a non-recurring congestion.

Abstract: A calibration pipeline for 6DoF alignment parameters for an autonomous vehicle includes an automated driving controller instructed to receive inertial measurement unit (IMU) poses and final radar poses and determine smoothened IMU poses from the IMU poses and smoothened final radar poses from the final radar poses. The automated riving controller determines a solution yielding a threshold number of inliers of further filtered radar-IMU A, B relative pose pairs, randomly samples the further filtered radar-IMU A, B relative pose pairs with replacements several times to determine a stream of filtered radar-IMU A, B relative pose pairs, and solves for a solution X for the stream of filtered radar-IMU A, B relative pose pairs.

Abstract: A system and method to provide a trailer-considerate route recommendation involve obtaining logged information from vehicles, the logged information from each of the vehicles corresponding with a location of the vehicle, a time, a type of the vehicle, and a type of trailer pulled by the vehicle. A method includes obtaining potential routes under consideration for an on-going navigation by a trailering vehicle towing a towed trailer and obtaining road characteristics for the potential routes. A risk score is computed for each of the potential routes, the risk score being a weighted sum of risk factors. Each of the risk factors results from quantifying the logged information or the road characteristics. The trailer-considerate route recommendation is provided based on the risk score associated with each of the potential routes to affect the on-going navigation by the trailering vehicle.

Abstract: A system for correcting HD map images is provided. The system is configured to: receive, from a plurality of vehicles, ground view image data of a map anomaly hotspot captured by the vehicles; convert the ground view image data to bird view image data using homography; remove outliers from the bird view image data; apply an error reduction algorithm; stitch together a sequence of consecutive images from the image data after error reduction to produce a high-definition image, wherein each of the consecutive images has been generated through converting ground view image data to bird view image data using homography, removing outliers from the bird view image data, and applying an error reduction algorithm; compare the stitched sequence of consecutive images to a high-definition image of the hotspot to determine revisions to the high-definition image; and provide revised high-definition image data for use in navigating near the map anomaly hotspot.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method at a service facility for capturing vehicle state and service information (VSSI) is provided. The method includes: detecting the arrival of a vehicle at the service facility; initiating, by a processor at the service facility, the establishment of a secure communication link with the vehicle via an in-vehicle wi-fi hotspot; wirelessly retrieving, by the processor at the service facility from the vehicle, a subset of VSSI via the wi-fi hotspot, wherein the retrieved VSSI includes the subset of the VSSI that has changed since the last update of the VSSI to a cloud-based server and wherein the subset of the VSSI includes some, but not all of the VSSI; and scheduling a vehicle service based on service indications derived from the VSSI.
