Abstract:
An engraving laser assembly comprises a tubular rail defining a plenum in an interior of the rail. A carriage is operatively associated with to the tubular rail for axial movement along the rail. A focusing optic is mounted to the carriage for focusing a laser beam to a focal point on an engraving plane operatively with the carriage. A gas inlet is operatively associated with the tubular rail and the inlet is configured for attachment to a source of pressurized gas to provide pressurized gas to the plenum. A plurality of holes are provided in the tubular rail in fluid communication with the plenum. The holes are configured so that, with a source of pressurized gas attached to the gas inlet, a stream of pressurized gas is directed from each hole toward the engraving plane.
Abstract:

Abstract:
A capacitive touch slider array comprises a first conductive trace associated with a first sensing node. The first conductive trace includes a first conductive line and a plurality of first conductive fingers extending from the first conductive line. The plurality of first conductive fingers have lengths that increase from a first end of the capacitive touch slider array to a second end of the capacitive touch slider array. A second conductive trace associated with a second sensing node includes a second conductive line and a plurality of second conductive fingers extending from the second conductive line. The plurality of second conductive fingers have lengths that increase from the second end of the capacitive touch slider array to the first end of the capacitive touch slider array.
Abstract:
The cloning of a novel PCVII viral genome is described as is expression of proteins derived from the PCVII genome. These proteins can be used in vaccine compositions for the prevention and treatment of PCVII infections, as well as in diagnostic methods for determining the presence of PCVII infections in a vertebrate subject. Polynucleotides derived from the viral genome can be used as diagnostic primers and probes.
Abstract:
Compositions and methods for treating, preventing and diagnosing Helicobacter infection are disclosed. The methods use proteins and/or nucleic acids derived from Helicobacter cerdo, a new pathogen isolated from swine. In addition, porcine models for studying bacterial gastritis and gastric and duodenal ulcer disease caused by Helicobacter pathogens, such as H. pylori and H. cerdo are described, as well as methods of identifying vaccines and compounds for treating and/or preventing Helicobacter infection using the animal models. Also described are methods of preventing Helicobacter infection in swine, such as infection caused by H. cerdo, using immunogenic proteins and nucleic acids derived from Helicobacter pathogens, such as H. pylori.
Abstract:
A semiconductor device including a doped substrate of a first doping polarity and a doped semiconductor material of a second doping polarity. The semiconductor material is on, or in, the substrate, and the second doping polarity is opposite the first doping polarity such that the semiconductor material and the substrate form a diode. The semiconductor device further includes an inductor on or above the semiconductor material, and a pattern in the semiconductor material for reducing eddy currents. The pattern includes a doped semiconductor material of the first doping polarity and a least one trench within the doped semiconductor material of the first doping polarity, wherein, at least at a depth at which the trench is closest to the inductor, the doped semiconductor material of the first doping polarity fully surrounds the trench so that, at least at the depth, the trench does not touch the doped semiconductor material of the second doping polarity.
Abstract:
The invention features various techniques for managing transfers of information in public packet switched communications networks. In one aspect, the invention provides a system for identifying updated items of network-based information, such as pages, to users in a network. A master server receives the data from each of a plurality of network servers and merges them into one or more master logs. The logs have entries that pertaining to creation of or changing of pages of information. Another aspect of the invention features a system for implementing security protocols. A proxy server translates links from a protocol incompatible with the network tool to a protocol compatible with the network tool and back-translates the link. Another aspect of the invention features a system for managing authenticating credentials of a user. A proxy server manages a user's authenticating credentials automatically on behalf of the user. Another aspect of the invention features a system for inducing advertisers to target advertisements to consumers. An advertising broker receives advertisements and messages indicating that users. Have read the advertisements, and causes an offer having monetary value to be executed. Another aspect of the invention features a system for extracting data from sources of network-based information in a communications network. An object embedding-program locates a script program and causes the script program to extract data from a page of information.
Abstract:
A client in a plurality of clients with a same network address or similar common identifier is designated a Peer Distribution Point (PDP) agent for distributing a software application divided into several packages to the plurality of clients. The plurality of clients are part of a client-server hierarchical system comprising a Central SMS site server and several Distributing servers. The Central SMS site server generates policies for the packages that are pushed to a Distribution server assigned to the plurality of clients from where the PDP agent pulls the policies. The Central SMS site server generates the packages that are pushed to the Distributing server after the PDP agent pulls the policies. The packages are pulled by the PDP agent from the Distributing server. The other clients pull the packages from the PDP agent as and when needed.
Abstract:
A method for automatically calibrating and deploying a tracking system of the type used by emergency responders (10) at the scene of a chaotic event such as a fire or the like. Each firefighter (10) is issued a wireless tag (26) having a unique identification number. Personal details about the firefighter (10) are prerecorded in a central database (44). Every piece of equipment (12, 14, 16) is also issued a wireless tag (26), with details about that piece of equipment prerecorded in the central database (44). At the scene of an emergency, drop readers (30, 30′) are scattered about the area. The drop readers (30, 30′) sense the location and ID number of each wireless tag (26). The drop readers (30, 30′) communicate with the central database (44) via a wireless connection (46). A scene commander (18) interfaces with the central database (44) through a graphic user interface (48) to acquire real time information about the location and movement of all personnel and equipment at the response scene. The reported data may be superimposed over a map of the scene, and exported in the form of reports (52).
Abstract:
Provided is a method for reducing viral load of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV-2) in a pig by inducing an immune response against PCV-2 through the administration of an immunogenic composition comprising a PCV-2 antigen. A preferred antigen is a vector containing a PCV-2 nucleotide sequence. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the PCV-2 nucleotide sequence is ORF4, ORF13, or ORF4 and ORF13. In some embodiments, the immunogenic composition includes one or more additional pig pathogens.
