Abstract: A sense amplifier pulse shaping circuit maintains a relationship between a sense amplifier enable signal and a sense amplifier equalization enable signal while disabling equalization prior to evaluation and disabling evaluation prior to equalization. In some embodiments of the present invention, a sense amplifier pulse shaper circuit generates a sense amplifier equalization control signal and a sense amplifier enable signal. The sense amplifier equalization control signal has a rising transition effectively earlier than the rising transition of the sense amplifier enable signal. The sense amplifier enable signal has a falling transition effectively earlier than the falling transition of the sense amplifier equalization control signal. The sense amplifier equalization signal is discharged into the sense amplifier enable signal.

Abstract: An illuminated electric toothbrush comprising a light emitting diode emitting light having a flux density of at least about 30 mW/cm2. An illuminated electric toothbrush having this level of flux density can result in an oral care benefit such as whitening. When this toothbrush is used within the oral cavity the heat generated by the toothbrush remains low enough that the surface temperature of the teeth remains below about 43° C. The flux density of at least about 30 mW/cm2 can be achieved by overpowering the light emitting diode, by using a light emitting diode having at least about two dices, and by providing a pulsed or non-continuous current to the LED which results in a pulsing or non-continuous light.

Abstract: A domestic oven includes a housing defining a cooking chamber, at least one stationary first heating element in the chamber, a shelf movably disposed in the chamber, a second heating element mounted to the shelf, and a drive operatively connected to the shelf for translating the shelf, together with the second heating element, in the housing. The shelf is made of heat conductive metal. A temperature sensor in heat conductive contact with the shelf senses the temperature of the shelf and of a metal tray or pan placed on the shelf in heat conductive contact therewith. The temperature sensor is operatively connected to an energization circuit for the second heating element for de-energizing the second heating element upon detecting a sudden rise in temperature. The second heating element is mounted to the shelf via insulating spacers. The oven is used to perform a hybrid steaming and baking method.

Abstract: A superstoichiometric MgAl.sub.2 0.sub.4 spinel, which can be used, for example, as material for a high temperature crucible, is synthesized by, producing a precursor mixture comprising intimately mixed oxides of the corresponding metals in the spinel. Magnesium is added in a superstoichiometric amount to the precursor mixture. Prior to spinel formation, from one to five percent by weight of a reactive salt containing fluorine and/or boron, based on the metal oxides of the spinel, are added to the precursor mixture, and the doped precursor mixture is mixed for from 0.5 to 3 hours. Finally, the mixed precursor mixture is heated for between 0.5 and 4 hours at a temperature between 1150.degree. C. and 1400.degree. C. to synthesize the Mg.sub.(1+x) Al.sub.2 0.sub.4 spinel which is superstoichiometric with respect to magnesium.

Abstract: An electrically programmable and erasable floating gate memory device has two substantially identical sections. Each section has a plurality of column address lines, a plurality of row lines and a plurality of source lines. A first plurality of floating gate memory cells has its drain connected to a different one of the column address line, its gate connected to the same first row line and its source connected to the same first source line. A second plurality of floating gate memory cells has its drain connected to a different one of the column address line, its gate connected to the same second row line, different from the first row line, and its source connected to the same first source line. Associated with each section is a plurality of bit latches, one for each column. Reprogramming data is stored in the bit latches. Data from the bit latches of one section are stored in the first plurality of floating gate memory cells. Data from the bit latches of the other section are stored in the second plurality of floating gate memory cells.
