    摘要: An adjustable spinal implant (10) is provided for use in connecting elongate members (12) as well as vertebral spacers such as corpectomy devices, intervertebral fusion devices, and other prostheses. The implant (10) may have fittings (80) on either end comprising fixed (100) or articulating (200) jaws, endplates, or other engagement structures. The implant (10) comprises a housing (40) with an internal rotor (60); an extending shaft (20); and a locking collar (70). The extending shaft (20) has an external helical groove (23) that meshes with an internal helical groove (63) on rotor (20). Length adjustment occurs by transforming axial movement of the extending shaft (20) into a rotary movement of the rotor (60) via helical engagement. The locking collar (70) comprises protrusion (73) engaging grooves (63) of rotor (60), thus providing a simple, positive locking mechanism without requiring the surgeon to apply excessive force to lock the length.

    摘要: The invention relates to a process for preparing di-n-butene and alkyl tertbutyl ethers in a coupled production from field butanes, which indicates (a) separating the field butanes 1 into n-butane and isobutane in the separation stage 4, (b) dehydrogenating the n-butane 5 in a dehydrogenation stage 6 to give an n-butene-containing dehydrogenation mixture 7, oligomerizing the n-butene in the oligomerization stage 10 to give an oligomer mixture 11 and separating di-n-butene 12 off from this, and (c) de-hydrogenating the isobutane 15 in the dehydrogenation stage 16 to give an isobutene-containing dehydrogenation mixture 17 and reacting the isobutene with an alkanol 20 in the etherification stage 19 to give an alkyl tert-butyl ether 21. In an advantageous embodiment, the field butanes 1, prior to entry into the separation stage 4, are subjected to hydrogenation conditions in the hydrogenation stage 2 and an isomerization stage 3 is assigned to the separation stage 4, by means of which isomerization stage the ratio of n-butane to isobutane is set in accordance with the desired ratio of alkyl tertbutyl ether to di-n-butene.

    摘要: A machine for the precision working of tooth flanks of a gear-shaped workpiece. The machine having an internally toothed tool, a tool head angularly adjustable about an axis directed transversely with respect to a workpiece axis for rotationally drivably receiving the tool, means for receiving the workpiece to be machined and means for accomplishing the feeding and working movements of the tool relative to the workpiece in which movable tables existing in conventional machines for receiving the workpieces are avoided with the disadvantages resulting therefrom. The machine also having a frame, a first carriage horizontally movable in an X-direction transversely with respect to a workpiece axis, on which carriage is arranged a second carriage vertically movable in a Y-direction. The tool head is received pivotally about an axis lying in the X-direction in a circular guide in the second carriage. On each side of the tool head there are provided a headstock and a tailstock for receiving the workpiece. The headstock and tailstock are movable on the machine frame in the Z-direction, namely in the direction of the workpiece axis. The headstock is drivable and the tailstock follows correspondingly.

    摘要: For the manufacture of acetylene and synthesis or reduction gas from coal by means of an electric arc or plasma process, coal converted into powder form is pyrolyzed in an electric arc reactor with an energy density of 1 to 5 kWh/Nm.sup.3, a residence period of 0.5 to 10 msec and at a temperature of at least 1500.degree. C. such that the gaseous compounds derived from the coal do not exceed 1.8 times the so-called volatile content of the coal. The coke remaining after subsequent quenching is then fed to a second electric arc reactor in which the coke, by means of a gasifying medium in conjunction with heating by means of an electric arc or plasma process, is converted into synthesis or reduction gas furing a residence period of 1 to 15 sec and at a temperature of at least 800.degree. C. The gas flow from the pyrolysis zone is cleaned and acetylene is recovered therefrom by selective solvents. The gas from the cleaning stage is similarly cooled and cleaned.
