摘要: An amorphous Co-based metal filament having a circular cross-section made of an alloy composed mainly of Co-Si-B or Co-Me-Si-B (wherein Me is at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Fe, Ni, Cr, Ta, Nb, V, Mo, Mn, W and Zr). This filament is produced by jetting the above alloy into a rotating member containing therein a cooling liquid through a spinning nozzle having a hole diameter which is determined according to the amorphous metal-forming ability (critical thickness to form an amorphous phase) to thereby cool-solidify the jetted molten alloy and form a filament, and then winding the filament continuously on the inner walls of the rotating member by the rotary centrifugal force thereof. This amorphous metal filament is corrosion resistant, is tough and has high electromagnetic characteristics, and is very useful as industrial materials, such as electric and electronic parts, composite materials and fibrous materials.

摘要: Amorphous metal filaments having a substantially circular cross-section comprising an alloy containing Fe as a main component, and a process for producing such amorphous metal filaments, are described; the process comprises jetting a molten alloy having amorphism forming ability into a revolving body containing a cooling liquid from a spinning nozzle to form a solidified filament by cooling, and continuously winding the filament on the inner wall of said revolving body by means of the centrifugal force of said revolving body, wherein the circumferential rate of revolution of said revolving body is equal to or higher than the rate of jetting of molten metal from the spinning nozzle. These metal filaments have good corrosion resistance, toughness, and high magnetic permeability and are very useful in various industrial applications, such as electric and electronic parts, materials for reinforcement, and fiber materials.

摘要: Improved liquid helium level gauge is described. The gauge includes a resistance wire sustained vertically within a liquid helium container and an electrical indicating device for producing an indication which varies with the electric resistance of said resistance wire. The resistance wire is made of a new superconductive amorphous material such as Zr.sub.80 Nb.sub.5 Al.sub.8 Si.sub.7. The amorphous material has a superconductivity transition temperature between 4.2.degree. and 5.0.degree. K., a relatively high normal electric resistance and a high mechanical strength.

摘要: A method for making a Fe-based soft magnetic alloy where an alloy melt is injected onto a moving cooling unit to form an amorphous alloy ribbon. The alloy melt contains Fe as a main component, B and at least one metallic element M selected from the group consisting of Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Mo and W, the composition of the alloy melt being selected such that the resulting amorphous alloy ribbon is characterized by a first crystallization temperature at which fine grain bcc Fe crystallites precipitate, and a second crystallization temperature at which a compound phase containing Fe--B and/or Fe--M precipitates. The amorphous alloy ribbon is then annealed at a temperature which is higher that the first crystallization temperature and less than the second crystallization temperature for an annealing time in the range of 0 minutes to 20 minutes.

摘要: Alloy powder which is low in price and is unlikely to be oxidized on the surface, and a dispersion-type conductor using the alloy powder in which electromigration is not likely to occur. Melt of copper and silver is cooled at a high cooling speed of 10.sup.5 .degree.C./s or higher. Alloy powder having a composition expressed by a chemical formula Cu.sub.x Ag.sub.1-x (where 0.80.ltoreq..times..ltoreq.0.99) is obtained. Also, a dispersion-type conductor is produced by dispersing 100 parts by weight of the alloy powder in between 5-100 parts by weight of a binder. Thus, the low-priced alloy powder and the dispersion-type conductor of high quality and high reliability can be obtained.

摘要: A dispersion-strengthened aluminum alloy having a composite structure containing a matrix of .alpha.-aluminum and a precipitation deposited phase of an intermetallic compound with the intermetallic compound in a volume ratio of not more than 35 vol. %, has both high strength and high toughness. The precipitation phase of the intermetallic compound has an aspect ratio of not more than 3.0, the .alpha.-aluminum has a crystal grain size which is at least twice the grain size of the precipitation phase of the intermetallic compound, and the crystal grain size of the .alpha.-aluminum is not more than 200 nm. It is possible to obtain an aluminum alloy having the aforementioned limited structure by carrying out first and second heat treatments on gas-atomized powder containing at least 10 vol. % of an amorphous phase or a green compact thereof and thereafter carrying out hot plastic working.
