    摘要: A method to improve corrosion, abrasion, and fire resistant properties of structural components for use in oil, gas, exploration, refining and petrochemical applications is provided. The structural component is suitable for as refinery and/or petrochemical process equipment and piping, include but are not limited to process vessels, transfer lines and process pipes, heat exchangers, cyclones, and distillation columns. The method comprises providing the structural component with a plurality of layers, a corrosion resistant layer in contact with the corrosive petroleum products comprising a material selected from amorphous metals, ceramic materials, or combinations thereof; a structural layer; and an outer layer comprising a fire resistive material. In one embodiment, the structural component is further provided with at least another layer selected from a metal sheeting layer, an adhesive layer, and a containment layer. The structural component is characterized as having excellent corrosion/abrasion/erosion properties and fire-resistant properties.

The support band is provided with several pre-defined cutting zones which are at a distance from each other in the lengthwise direction and which run crosswise to the lengthwise direction. The intumescent strip has cutting areas that are oriented in the same manner and in which the intumescent strip is thinner than it is in the adjacent areas in the lengthwise direction. The cutting areas coincide with the cutting zones of the support band.

    摘要: A flame-retarded thermoplastic composition including a graft copolymer containing polyamide blocks and composed of a polyolefin backbone and on average at least one polyamide graft, in which the grafts are attached to the backbone by the residues of an unsaturated monomer (X) having a function capable of reacting with a polyamide, the residues of the unsaturated monomer (X) are attached to the backbone by grafting or copolymerization from its double bond, wherein the composition includes: —between 60% and 70% by weight of the graft copolymer containing polyamide blocks, —between 22% and 28% by weight of poly(pentabromobenzyl acrylate), —between 4% and 8% by weight of a synergistic flame retardant chosen from antimony trioxide, derivatives of tin, of molybdenum and/or bismuth and also boron and zinc oxides, calcium borates, calcium sulphate and/or zinc stannate, between 0.5% and 5% by weight of organophilic treated clay.

    摘要: A fire sleeve is made in the form of an elongated, flexible tube which may serve as a conduit for anything, such as wires, hydraulic lines, fuel hoses, air ducts, or the like. The fire sleeve has an elastomer jacket molded over an inner layer of braided yarn. Various molding techniques are used to improve the jacket-to-braid bonding. The fire sleeve will meet FAA tests wherein it must withstand the temperature of a burning aircraft for a fifteen-minute period before exposing the contents of the sleeve to the fire.

    摘要: A chafe or fire sleeve for a hose is an integral coaxial structure having an inner layer of silicone and an outer layer of urethane in the range of 80%-20% urethane and 20%-80% silicone, respectively. The inner hose structure preferably comprises an elastomeric hose covered by braid, with the silicone bonded onto the braid. Five examples of materials are given, ranging from pure urethane to pure silicone and including three exemplary mixtures thereof. Pure urethane provides excellent antichafe, but not fire retardant, qualities; and pure silicone provides excellent fire retardant, but not necessarily as good antichafe, qualities. This particular invention is primarily directed to the fire retardant or fire resisting qualities of silicone, which is an ablative material that forms a refractory ash. The fire sleeve is an ablative material which tends to flake off the hose as it burns. This flaking is a disintegration of the hose which is one of the primary causes of the ultimate hose failure. The invention provides a wire braid which encapsulates or contains the ablative material as it tends to flake, thereby holding the ablating material against the hose and retarding the disintegration of the hose.
