Abstract: Non-fullerene electron acceptors for highly efficient organic photovoltaic devices are described. The non-fullerene electron acceptors have an extended, rigid, π-conjugated electron-deficient framework that can facilitate exciton and charge derealization. The non-fullerene electron acceptors can physically mix with a donor polymer and facilitate improved electron transport. The non-fullerene electron acceptors can be incorporated into organic electronic devices, such as photovoltaic cells.

Abstract: Improved catalytic methods are disclosed. The methods include both hydrogenation and disproportionation catalysis. While the reaction conditions for hydrogenation and disproportionation differ, the catalysts disclosed herein can be used for either process. Abstract: A DNA sequence that functions as an origin in many different yeast species. From 1 to 17 mutations can be introduced into this sequence to improve its function across multiple yeasts. The resulting synthetic DNA sequence confers stable plasmid replication function in all yeast species tested, including but not limited to Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Lachancea kluyveri, Kluyveromyces lactis, Kluyveromyces wickerhammii, Hansenula polymorpha, and Pichia pastoris. Also provided are sequences that function as an optimal origin in the industrially useful Pichia pastoris.

Abstract: A system and method for noninvasively determining the oxygenation of a tissue, for example, a muscle, in vivo uses optical methods to optically interrogate the tissue in both a visible wavelength range and a near infrared (NIR) wavelength range. The illuminating light is sculpted in intensity to approximately match the absorbance spectrum, for example, with the visible light having an intensity an order of magnitude greater than the NIR light. Training data is obtained from healthy patients in both the visible and NIR ranges simultaneously and used to calculate muscle oxygenation.
