Abstract:
A multi-layer thermoplastic film include a first film of thermoplastic material, a second film of thermoplastic material bonded to the first film, and an odor control component disposed between the first film and the second film. A method of manufacturing a multi-layer thermoplastic film coextruding a plurality of layers to form a first film, coextruding a plurality of layers to form a second film, disposing at least one odor control component on at least one of the first film and the second film, and bonding the first and second films together such that the at least one substance is disposed between the first film and the second film.
Abstract:
Methods of stretching thermoplastic films in the machine direction include elongating the films in the machine direction without significantly reducing the films' machine-direction tear resistance. In one or more implementations, methods of stretching thermoplastic films include reducing the gauge of the films while substantially maintaining the films' machine-direction tear resistance. The methods can involve uniformly cold stretching the films by stretching the films to a draw of about one hundred and eighty percent, or less, of the films' original length.
Abstract:
Methods of incrementally stretching thermoplastic films in the machine direction include elongating the films in the machine direction without reducing the films' machine-direction tear resistance. In one or more implementations, methods of incrementally stretching thermoplastic films include reducing the gauge of the films without reducing the films' machine-direction tear resistance. The methods can involve cold stretching the films and imparting transverse-direction extending linear rib pattern into the film. The linear ribs can have alternating thick and thin gauges. Incrementally stretched thermoplastic films can have a machine-direction tear resistance that is equal to or greater than the machine-direction tear resistance of the film prior to stretching.
Abstract:
The bag may include a draw tape that may be used to cinch closed the opening of the bag. The draw tape may include an elastic characteristic and may be smaller in size than the peripheral distance about the opening. The draw tape in its natural contracted state may partially constrict the opening. However, the draw tape may be stretched or expanded to enable a user to dilate the opening and fold the periphery of the opening over the rim of the canister. The draw tape may then recover or constrict to grip about the rim of the receptacle to hold the bag to the canister. In one embodiment, the bag may include a pattern proximate the bag opening to allow the bag opening to be stretched over the rim of the canister.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for creating multi-layered lightly-laminated provide films with increased or maintained strength. An increased level of strength is achieved by bonding adjacent layers of the multi-layer film together in a manner that the bond strength of the laminated layers is less than a strength of a weakest tear resistance of the individual first and second film layers. The inventors have surprisingly found that such a configuration of light bonding provides increased and unexpected strength properties to the multi-layer film as compared to a monolayer film of equal thickness or a multi-layer film in which the plurality of layers are tightly bonded together.

Abstract:
One or more implementations of a multi-layered bag with reinforced seals include an outer layer or bag and an inner layer or bag positioned within the outer layer or bag. The multi-layered bag further includes a draw tape positioned near the opening of the multi-layered bag. The draw tape can allow a user to at least partially close the multi-layered bag by drawing the layers of the bag together. The multi-layered bag further includes one or more tape seals that bond the draw tape to layers of the bag. The tape seals can be reinforced and include at least seven plies bonded together. One or more implementations further include methods of forming multi-layered bags with reinforced seals.
Abstract:
The bag for receiving refuse may include a bag body, the bag body including an inside surface, an outside surface, and a rim defining a mouth. The bag may also include a first strip of material disposed on the inside surface of the bag body proximate the rim. The strip may include an inside surface, an outside surface that faces the inside surface of the body, a top edge, and a bottom edge. The bag may also include a front wall, a back wall, and a hem, the hem including a drawstring. The strip may include a printed design. The design could be letters, numbers, pictures, writing, or any other design. When the bag is inserted into a trash receptacle such that the rim of the bag is folded over the rim of the receptacle, the printed design is visible from outside the receptacle.
