A unidirectional DC-DC converter which has a simple control circuit without using multiple insulated power supplies or a transformer, uses an auxiliary inductor of a comparatively small capacitance, reduces the size and weight of the converter, and has a very great capacitance without switching of supply current. For example, a unidirectional DC-DC converter equipped with main IGBT101 which supplies and shuts off current for first inductor 108a and diode 107 which discharges energy from main inductor 108a to an the output. The DC-DC converter is further equipped with auxiliary IGBT104 which applies current to back-to-back-connected diode 102 by using energy stored in auxiliary inductor 108b which is magnetically coupled with main inductor 108a. This applies current to the back-to-back-connected diode in a short period including a time period in which the first switching element is turned on and accomplishes ZVZCS.

An uninterruptible power system for inputting an AC power, converting the AC power into a desired power, supplying the desired power to a load, and upon occurrence of an AC failure, converting a DC power from energy accumulation means into the desired power and supplying the desired power to the load, wherein the DC power from said energy accumulation means is passed through two serially connected boost means, and thereafter the power is converted into the desired power to be supplied to the load, wherein first boost means of the two serially connected boost means, which is nearer to the energy accumulation means, raises the DC electric power from said energy accumulation means to supply second boost means of the two serially connected boost means when supply of electric power is interrupted, and lowers inputted electric power for charging the electric accumulation means during an ordinary operation.

A buck converter circuit and a boost converter circuit, which co-use a main inductor, are connected in series with each other between a DC power-supply and a DC load between output terminals a-b of a rectifier circuit. Moreover, utilizing energy accumulated into first and second auxiliary inductors which are loosely coupled to the main inductor magnetically, a current is flown through diodes during a short time-period including a point-in-time at which main switching elements of the buck and boost converter circuits are to be turned ON. Here, the diodes are connected in inversely parallel to the main switching elements.

A reliable uninterruptible DC power supply device. The DC backup power supply device includes an AC/DC converter, a DC/DC converter, voltage step-up/down choppers and a battery connected to a DC path of a main circuit connected with a load via a switch, and a microcomputer. In the device, under control of the microcomputer, the voltage step-up/down choppers are first operated under a condition that the MOS FET was turned OFF for self diagnosis of the backup power supply device. Next, the switch is turned ON to execute the remaining self diagnosis. The DC backup power supply device can execute its self diagnosis with a reduced likelihood of danger of exerting an adverse effect on the main circuit and also can exhibit a reliable uninterruptible power supply function.

A step down type DC-DC power-supply device implements both the stabilization of the control loop and the responsibility at the same time. In the power-supply device, an output power signal is fed back to an error amplifier after having passed through a CR smoothing filter provided independently of a power LC smoothing filter. Also, independently of the duty controls over Power MOSFETs, i.e., upper-side/lower-side semiconductor switching components in the steady state, an output from the power LC smoothing filter is added to an upper and lower limit-mode-equipped control circuit, thereby, at the transient state, forcefully setting the duty α at either 0% or 100%.

The invention relates to a power supply system having plural converters connected in parallel. The current of each of the plural converters is detected and each of the converters is controlled so as to match each of the converters to a maximum current value from among the detected current values. In the parallel converters, when one or more converter fails, having an output current of zero, the remaining converters are each partially charged equally to maintain the load current. Since a common bus is arranged between plural converters and plural loads, it is possible to carry out a redundant operation having a high reliability. Since a stable output can be obtained without being affected by the failed converter, a power supply system having the redundancy and the high reliability can be attained.

A first-order feedback control power supply apparatus being arranged in such a manner that when the apparatus is driven under light load condition, a current flowing through an inductor is detected by employing a second CR smoothing filter; when the present load condition is judged as a light load condition based upon the detected inductor current, both upper-sided/lower-sided power MOSFETs and a PWM oscillator are turned OFF so as to be brought into sleep states; when an output voltage of the power supply apparatus is lowered and the lowered output voltage reaches a lower limit threshold of a transient variation detecting circuit, the upper-sided power MOSFET is turned ON to recover the output voltage; and when the output voltage of the power supply voltage reaches a predetermined voltage, the upper-sided power MOSFET is turned OFF so as to be again brought into the sleep state.
