Abstract:
Polymeric blends comprising a rubber latex and large particle size solid polyvinyl chloride resin provide good tuft lock in tufted carpets and enhance flame retardancy of same. The blend is applied to the carpet and dried at an elevated temperature below the flux temperature of the polyvinyl chloride resin.

A PROCESS IS DISCLOSED FOR THE MOLDING OF AUTOMOTIVE FLOOR COVERINGS. A MOLTEN THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITION IS APPLIED TO THE BACK OF A LENGTH OF CARPET. THE CARPET IS IMMEDIATELY LAMINATED TO A BACKING PAD AND THE LAMINATE IS IMMEDIATELY FORMED IN A MOLD.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods and devices for forming a combined polyester and fiberglass mat, in which separate polyester and fiberglass layers can be formed or polyester filaments and fiberglass threads can be mixed together by a disperser to form a polyester and fiberglass web. The polyester filaments and the fiberglass threads can be dispersed by separate dispersers on a web forming belt to form separate layers of polyester filaments and fiberglass threads, or can be dispersed by a single disperser to at least, somewhat evenly disperse, the fiberglass threads and polyester filaments.
Abstract:
A flexible, flame-retardant composite material includes a fabric layer; and at least one impregnated or coated Polyvinyl Butyral (PVB) coating layer, which is integral with said fabric layer. The PVB coating layer contains 20 to 60% by weight of PVB, at least one plasticizer in an amount of 5 to 40% by weight of the coating layer, and at least one flame retardant in a total amount of 5 to 75% by weight with respect to the coating layer. A manufacturing method thereof is also described, and includes an impregnation or coating of a water-based dispersion of PVB onto the fabric layer, and a further curing.
Abstract:
The present disclosure generally relates to polymer-aerogel/fiber composite materials, polymer-aerogel/textile composite materials, and systems and methods for producing them. The gel material can comprise, in some embodiments, a network of polymer. The fiber and/or textile material can comprise at least one of any natural, synthetic, and/or mineral fiber. In some cases, certain combinations of materials, solvents, and/or processing steps may be synergistically employed so as to enable manufacture of materials suitable for use in apparel, soft goods, and other consumer applications which may benefit from the properties of a polymer-aerogel/fiber composite and/or the polymer-aerogel/textile composite.
Abstract:
A process for producing a fluorinated polymer coating on a fabric substrate, including providing a first plasma source containing at least one pair of hollow-cathode plasma generating electrodes, injecting a first plasma generating gas in the at least one pair of hollow-cathode plasma generating electrodes, applying a first electrical power to the first plasma source, injecting a fluorinated monomer with an inert carrier gas between the at least one pair of hollow-cathode plasma generating electrodes, and depositing the fluorinated polymer coating on a surface of the fabric substrate by exposing the fabric substrate to the plasma of the first plasma source. The fluorinated polymer coating is water repellent.
Abstract:
Provided is an artificial leather, which exhibits light transmitting properties and maintains its texture and touch while being dark-colored and having a medium or higher density, the artificial leather including a fiber entangled body formed of ultrafine fibers having an average single fiber diameter of 0.1 to μm; and an elastomer, in which the artificial leather has a thickness of 0.4 to 1.2 mm and a weight per unit area of 80 to 450 g/m2, where one surface of the artificial leather is a design surface colored with a dye and/or a pigment and satisfies the following Formulas (1) to (3):

Abstract:
A leather-like fabric has a feel of natural nubuck leather and a napped feel and air permeability of suede leather, as well as high wear resistance. The leather-like fabric includes a fibrous structure including ultrafine fibers having an average monofilament fineness of 0.0001 dtex or more and 0.5 dtex or less, at least one surface of the fibrous structure being napped, the napped surface having resin layers located discontinuously, and each of the resin layers containing two or more layers.
