Abstract: Methods and systems for selecting content for a computing device are described. In some embodiments, the method comprises: receiving, by one or more processors of a data processing system, from a client computing device, location data of the client computing device; identifying, by the data processing system, an entity around a location of the client computing device; identifying, by the data processing system, a radius threshold corresponding to the entity based on a performance metric criterion; determining, by the data processing system, that a distance between the client computing device and the entity is less than the radius threshold corresponding to the entity; and transmitting, by the data processing system, responsive to the determination, to the client computing device, a content item associated with the entity.

Abstract: This document describes techniques and devices for a radar recognition-aided search. Through use of a radar-based recognition system, gestures made by, and physiological information about, persons can be determined. In the case of physiological information, the techniques can use this information to refine a search. For example, if a person requests a search for a coffee shop, the techniques may refine the search to coffee shops in the direction that the person is walking. In the case of a gesture, the techniques may refine or base a search solely on the gesture. Thus, a search for information about a store, car, or tree can be made responsive to a gesture pointing at the store, car, or tree with or without explicit entry of a search query.

Abstract: A personal golfing assistant system is comprised of software running on a PDA attached directly or remotely to a GPS receiver that enables the user to survey and/or electronically capture geophysical golf data. A handheld device connected to or integrated with a GPS receiver can instead be used. Software allows a golfer to use a handheld PDA/GPS unit during the course of play to mark a ball location automatically and/or determine the distance to golf course targets and/or objects, and to analyze golf related data and generate statistics. The system can send a set of parameters tailored for a specific course to a real time tunable GPS to adjust for optimal performance and can adjust measurements to compensate for environmental condition changes. The system provides an improved graphical method for measuring and displaying distances between a golfer and a golf course object, for displaying multiple measured distances along a line of sight between a golfer and a golf object or target, and for orienting a target or object on a display to coincide with a user's line of sight. There is also provided a method for collecting and uploading golf course geographic information services (GIS) data to an internet accessible server, processing the uploaded data, distributing data upon an authorized user request, and downloading the requested data to an electronic device.

Abstract: A method for assessing user experience includes determining one or more experience journey maps, identifying personas included in the one or more experience journey maps, and collecting user experience related data from the personas included in the one or more experience journey maps. The method further includes identifying user experience gaps based on an analysis performed on the experience related data collected, and providing a graphical representation that highlights the user experience gaps. The method also includes generating recommendations for execution to mitigate the user experience gaps highlighted in the graphical representation, monitoring and tracking a progress of the executed recommendations, and performing automated monitoring and offset metric tracking of targeted experience-related input metrics used to gauge a performance of the executed recommendations.

Abstract: Aspects of the technology evaluate whether a response to a client device search query results in the client device traveling to a location associated with the response (FIG. 1). One or more wireless stations are selected based on the location associated with the search query (604, 606). Wireless station identifiers are sent, along with the search results, to the client device (504, 610). The client device compares the received identifiers against the identifiers of one or more observed wireless stations with which the mobile device is in communication or are otherwise visible (508). Log information is generated by the client device as a result of the comparison (510). The log information is transmitted to the network without user ID or other client-identifiable information included in the log (512). The received log information is then used to accurately evaluate conversions and evaluate search quality, which enhances the user experience and provides for a more efficient search result process (612, 614).

Abstract: In non-limiting examples, passive information is used to verify the location of a client computing device and to create segment categories for directed information using location-based services and/or applications. In aspects, passive information is received from a client computing device. The client computing device is detected as being located at a predicted venue using the passive information. It may be determined whether directed information associated with the predicted venue has been displayed at an earlier time on a predetermined portion of the client computing device. In response to determining directed information associated with the predicted venue has been displayed on the predetermined portion of the client computing device, a statistical model may be applied to calculate a confidence score that the client computing device is located at the predicted venue. When the confidence score meets a predetermined threshold, a directed information conversion record may be stored in a data store.

Abstract: Systems and methods for facilitating user interaction with a simulated object that is associated with a physical location in the real world environment is herein disclosed. In one aspect, embodiments of the present disclosure include a method, which may be implemented on a system, of identifying the simulated object that is available for access based on location data. The location data can include a location of a device in a time period, the device for use by a user to access the simulated object. One embodiment includes, verifying an identity of the user; and in response to determining that the user is authorized to access the simulated object, providing the simulated object for presentation to the user via the device.
