摘要: A CPU of a sphygmomanometer includes a first control unit that, during measurement, controls a change in the internal pressure of a measurement air bladder by controlling the driving of a pump and/or a valve. The CPU further includes a second control unit that controls a change in the internal pressure of a compressing air bladder by controlling the driving of a pump and/or a valve. During measurement, the second control unit carries out control so that the internal pressure of the compressing air bladder is a predetermined ratio to the internal pressure of the measurement air bladder controlled by the first control unit.

摘要: Improved apparatus and methods for non-invasively assessing one or more parameters associated with systems such as fluidic circulating systems (e.g., the circulatory system of a living organism). In a first aspect, an improved method of continuously measuring pressure from a compressible vessel is disclosed, wherein a substantially optimal level of compression for the vessel is achieved and maintained using dynamically applied dither perturbations (e.g., modulation) on the various axes associated with the vessel. In a second aspect, an improved apparatus and method are provided for monitoring hemodynamic parameters, such as blood pressure, in a continuous and non-invasive manner while operating under a single unifying scheme. One variant of this scheme using a simulated annealing (SA) type approach to determining and maintaining an optimal operating state.

摘要: A measurement device includes an air bag on a peripheral side, an air bag on a central side, and an air bag positioned therebetween. During blood pressure measurement, the air bags integrally behave, and the blood pressure is measured from the change in inner pressure thereof. During pulse wave measurement, the inner pressure of the air bag on the peripheral side is maintained to higher than or equal to the systolic blood pressure, and the measurement site is avascularized. The inner pressure of the air bag on the central side is maintained to the pressure near the blood pressure value, and the pulse wave is measured from the change in inner pressure thereof. The inner pressure of the air bag positioned therebetween is opened to atmospheric pressure, and the vibration of the air bag on the central side is prevented from propagating to the air bag on the peripheral side.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a system for monitoring a patient that includes a cuff configured to inflate to at least partially occlude an artery of the patient and a cuff controller configured to control inflation and deflation of the cuff. The system also includes a sensor configured to receive a signal associated with the at least partially occluded artery and generate an output signal based on the received signal. Also included is a signal analysis module configured to receive the output signal and determine a first hemodynamic parameter based on a first set of data obtained during inflation of the cuff and a second set of data obtained during deflation of the cuff.

摘要: A cardiac rhythm management system provides for ambulatory monitoring of hemodynamic performance based on quantitative measurements of heart sound related parameters for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Monitoring of such heart sound related parameters allows the cardiac rhythm management system to determine a need for delivering a therapy and/or therapy parameter adjustments based on conditions of a heart. This monitoring also allows a physician to observe or assess the hemodynamic performance for diagnosing and making therapeutic decisions. Because the conditions of the heart may fluctuate and may deteriorate significantly between physician visits, the ambulatory monitoring, performed on a continuous or periodic basis, ensures a prompt response by the cardiac rhythm management system that may save a life, prevent hospitalization, or prevent further deterioration of the heart.

摘要: A blood pressure meter includes an air bladder for attachment to a measurement area, a pressure sensor, a pump a valve, drive circuits, a CPU connected to the pressure sensor and the drive circuits, for controlling the adjustment of the internal pressure of the air bladder and calculating a blood pressure value based on a change in the internal pressure resulting from the adjustment, and a holding portion, into and from which air can flow from and to the air bladder, that has a lower volume than the air bladder. The air can flow from the holding portion into the air bladder in the case where a predetermined pressure is applied to the holding portion. The CPU starts the adjustment of the internal pressure in the case where a change in the internal pressure prior to the start of the adjustment of the internal pressure is a predefined change.

摘要: A system and method of enhancing a blood pressure signal is disclosed. The volume of an artery in a finger is measured by a photo-plesthysmographic (PPG) system, which produces a PPG signal. This PPG system is placed inside a cuff, and the cuff pressure is controlled by the PPG signal. The portion or component of the PPG signal having a frequency higher than a predefined threshold frequency is then modified or enhanced, such as by multiplying the high frequency component by a calibration factor. A blood pressure signal is then calculated using the cuff pressure and the modified PPG signal. A blood pressure contour curve may then be generated, and a variety of parameters may be calculated using the curve.
