    摘要: An imaging device includes a semiconductor body and a array of photosensitive elements arranged in rows and columns at a first portion of the body. A plurality of charge-transfer lines interdigitated with the columns of the array are provided for transfering storage charge carriers from the array to a charge-transfer shift register at a second portion of the semi-conductor body. Each of the transfer lines includes an elongate resistor electrode which has connections for applying a potential difference along the resistive electrode to produce a drift field in the underlying body portion in the direction of the shift register for transporting mobile charge carriers toward the shift register.

    摘要: A multilayer semiconductor switching device having alternating layers of opposite conductivity type is provided which is sensitive to impinging photon flux. The switching device has first, second and third electrodes and has a predetermined holding voltage. The switching device is constructed to receive photon flux from an external source and has variable output characteristics dependent upon the impinging photon flux. At least one photovoltaic device is disposed adjacent the semiconductor switching device for also receiving impinging photon flux and is connected across the first and second electrodes of the switching device. The photovoltaic device is operable in response to the impinging photon flux for generating a voltage greater than the holding voltage of the switching device and for applying the voltage across the first and second electrodes. The switching device generates base drive in response to the impinging photon flux. The first and third electrodes of the switching device are operable to receive an external voltage, such that a substantial change in impedence results across the first and third electrodes when the external voltage is less than the voltage generated by the photovoltaic device.

    摘要: The circuit arrangement includes a measuring device having an output circuit connected to one input of a comparator, and including a voltage divider whose tap is connected to the other input of the comparator. A storage capacitor is connected to the tap of the voltage divider and to such other input of the comparator and provides a reference voltage bearing a fixed relation to, but always lower than, the signal voltage of the measuring device in the quiescent state of the arrangement. A bias voltage may be applied to the tap of the voltage divider. When the measuring device responds to a test object, the voltages at the comparator inputs are so switched that the reference voltage is held above the signal voltage until the measuring device returns to the quiescent state. In the quiescent state, the signal voltage exceeds the reference voltage and the comparator, changing back to the zero state, restores the initial condition of the two voltages. A switching arrangement is provided which, when the reference voltage falls below a predetermined minimum value, and if the arrangement has not switched to the operating state, provides a corresponding logic signal.

    摘要: A light source, such as a light emitting diode (LED), illuminates a cadmium sulfide or cadmium selenide photocell to lower its resistance and thereby initiate conduction in a solid-state device, such as a silicon controlled rectifier (SCR), to deliver current to a load that is interrupted by removing the light energy and restoring the photocell to its unilluminated high resistance state. A feature of the invention resides in limiting the optical energy incident upon the photocell so that its resistance remains well above the lowest resistance it can attain while still dropping to a resistance value considerably below its maximum resistance when unilluminated so that within the total resistance changes of the photocell, the small percentage resistance charge required for proper activation of the solid-state device, may be effected relatively rapidly both for turn on and turn off.

    摘要: A self-regulating circuit is disclosed for driving a load, such as an arithmetical calculator display using light-emitting diodes, directly from a single MOS calculator chip. A strobe driver, which may be a field effect transistor has its gate electrode connected to a regulated supply of dc voltage, its drain electrode connected to a supply of voltage subject to variation, and its source electrode connected at a common point to one terminal of each of the light-emitting diodes of the display in order that the light-emitting diodes may be driven thereby. A second field effect transistor is also provided and has the conduction path thereof connected between the other terminal of a respective light-emitting diode and a reference potential, e.g. ground, to selectively complete a current path including the respective light-emitting diode. Hence, a lightemitting diode may be illuminated at a particular time and according to a predetermined order as controlled by the application of signals at the gate electrode of the second field effect transistor.

    摘要: A photon isolator device wherein the photon emitter and photodetector are matched such that the photodetector and transistor unit can be fabricated utilizing standard integrated circuit monolithic isolation techniques resulting in a high efficiency, high speed photon isolator; one preferred emitter utilizes GaAs(1 x)Px with x ranging from .20 to .48. A special technique is employed to provide a buried layer under the photodetector region that increases the collection layer depth. The elements in the integrated circuit transistor gain stage are formed so as to provide temperature compensation to balance the temperature dependence of the emitted light of the photon isolator. A novel plastic film insulation is utilized to mount and space the emitter and the photodetector elements of the photon isolator.
