    摘要: An apparatus for desilvering silver-containing solutions comprises an electrolytic cell (10) having an anode (20), a cathode (30) and a reference electrode (45) positioned adjacent the cathode (30), and electrical power supply control means (41) for controlling the supply of electrical power to the anode (20) and the cathode (30). The power supply control means (41) includes means (60) for adjusting the cathode potential and control means (70) linked to said adjustment means (60) to reduce the cathode potential, at least periodically, as the desilvering process continues. The process leads to better silver adhesion on the cathode occurs, while maintaining good desilvering levels in the solution, and cathode poisoning is minimised.

The roller has a length (L) of from 0.4 to 2.0 m. The core has a maximum diameter (D) of less than 0.04*L m. The roller is characterised by having a deflection as measured by a specific test and a weight (W) below levels defined by a specified boundary condition formulae (1) & (2). Rollers satisfying this condition are characterised in that the core is formed of a composite material comprising fibers and a resin matrix. Such rollers have a relatively small diameter, are light and yet still have sufficient stiffness to avoid substantial wrinkling of the sheet material in the apparatus and to satisfy the requirements of high processing quality.

    摘要: A method is provided for applying any hydrophilic colloid layer on a naked glass support comprising the steps of (i) wetting a naked glass support, with a polar solvent comprising more than 1% water, (ii) applying the hydrophilic colloid layer, provided on a temporary support, onto the wet glass support, so that the hydrophilic colloid layer is in direct contact with the wetted glass and (iii) stripping the temporary support away. It is preferred that the wetting solution comprises an organic silicon compound. The method is especially suited for applying photographic layers on a naked glass support. By using this method no special adhesive layer is needed and all photographic properties are kept unimpaired.
