摘要: An apparatus and methods for chlorine dioxide generation. The chlorine dioxide apparatus may comprise a plurality of metering pumps for delivering a plurality of reactant chemicals. The reactant chemicals are preferably delivered to a reaction column through inlet ports where the reactants are mixed to form the desired reactants. A synchronizer may control the metering pump action to provide synchronized delivery of the plurality of reactant chemicals to the reaction column.

摘要: An apparatus for dissolving a gas into a fluid which may contain at least one dissolved gas. The apparatus includes a first vertically oriented tube defining a first inner space and a second vertically oriented tube of diameter larger than the first tube and concentrically oriented about the first tube. The space between the first and second tubes is referred to as the second inner space. The gas is introduced through an inlet into the second inner space. The apparatus includes an acceleration device for accelerating the flow of fluid through the second inner space. The apparatus includes a helix-shaped bubble harvester which removes fugitive (undissolved) bubbles from the fluid flow and returns them to the second inner space to increase the probability that those bubbles will be dissolved into the fluid.

摘要: A change in the surface properties of apparatus for pharmaceutical preparation results from steam sterilization. This change may be avoided by the use of apparatus with more hydrophilic post-sterilization surfaces, e.g. those of gold. Hence there is provided a process for the preparation of a mixture comprising a discontinuous phase in a continuous phase which comprises using a mixing apparatus having a non-porous mixing surface which is repellant to the discontinuous phase and/or attractive to the continuous phase when the continuous phase is liquid or which is attractive to the discontinuous phase when the continuous phase is gaseous, whereby to improve the efficacy of the preparation of said mixture and/or to reduce physical degradation of said mixing surface, said surface if hydrophilic being more hydrophilic after sterilization than is stainless steel and if hydrophobic being more hydrophobic after sterilization than is stainless steel.

摘要: A method for producing a lightweight, water resistant composition for use in manufacturing building materials and the composition produced by such method. The method comprising mixing a first mixture comprising an epoxy resin, a lightweight aggregate, a UV absorber and preferably sodium bicarbonate and a viscosifer in a rotary mixer, rotating at a speed of at least 40 rpm. A second mixture of an epoxy hardener, a lightweight aggregate, a UV absorber and preferably sodium bicarbonate and a viscosifer are mixed in a rotary mixer rotating at a speed of at least 1000 rpm while pressurized air is pumped in until the second mixture is homogenized. The first and second mixtures are then combined and mixed while pressurized air is pumped in until the combined mixtures are homogenized. The mixing process preferably is performed in a centrifugal mixer comprising a co-rotating disk agitator just prior to the time of manufacturing the building materials. A preferred lightweight, water resistant composition produced by the method of this invention comprises a curable composition resulting from the first mixture and second mixture prepared in accordance with the method describe herein and then combined and mixed until homogenized.

摘要: An air injector assembly has an input port and an output port connected by a bypass bore and tapered bore. Fitted within the tapered bore is an air injector mechanism which contains a throat and a venturi nozzle portion. The opening of the bypass bore can be varied so that the amount of water passing therethrough is controlled to regulate the pressure being received at the input port which represents the back pressure on a pump. By varying the opening of the bypass bore, the back pressure of the pump can be regulated so that the pump may operate safely. Air is injected into the air injector assembly when water is pushed through the throat and into the venturi nozzle. A cavity is formed at the junction where the throat is coupled to the venturi nozzle so that air can be drawn thereat to aerate and oxidize the water passing therethrough. By aerating and oxidizing the water, hydrogen sulfide is removed and iron is precipitated, and can be removed later. An air supply assembly provides a safety valve which only allows air to be drawn into the air injector assembly.

摘要: In a process for mixing and proportioning a plurality of mixing components, the latter are supplied in individually weighed manner to a continuous mixing process and the mixture is subsequently continuously removed in a proportioned manner. For this purpose, a mixer, metering feed means positioned upstream of the mixer and a continuously proportioning removal device positioned downstream of the mixer are provided. In order to ensure a troublefree addition and an accurately proportioned removal, the individual mixing components are in each case successively supplied in timed continuous manner to the mixing process, accompanied by the weighing of the total mixing material. During the feed pauses, the mixture is gravimetrically controlled and during addition is removed in volumetrically controlled manner. For this purpose the mixer, together with the removal device, is arranged on a weighing machine and the feed means and removal device are controlled by the weighing machine by means of a regulating and control device.
