摘要： A protective coating and coating method for protecting a thermal barrier coating (TBC) on a component, such as a component of a gas turbine engine. The protective coating comprises alumina particles in a silica-containing matrix, and may be substantially homogeneous or formed of multiple layers having different compositions. The composition and relative amounts of alumina and matrix material in the protective coating enable the coating to react with molten compounds containing calcia, magnesia, alumina and/or silica (CMAS), forming a compound with a melting temperature that is significantly higher than CMAS. As such, infiltration of molten CMAS into the TBC is significantly reduced or entirely avoided.

摘要： The present invention is directed to a process for obtaining a substrate provided with a coating having photocatalytic properties, wherein the coating includes crystallized particles of an oxide of a metal A having photocatalytic properties. The crystallized particles are incorporated into the coating using a mineral binder comprising at least one oxide of a metal B also having photocatalytic properties in the crystallized state. The coating optionally includes at least oxide of a metal M devoid of photocatalytic properties and/or at least one silicon compound of the silicon oxide SiO2 type. The coating is deposited from liquid-phase dispersions containing the crystallized particles of the oxide of metal A and at least one precursor compound for the oxide of metal B of the binder and optionally a precursor compound for the oxide of metal M and for the Si compound, in a relative proportion A/(B+M+Si) by weight of the metals and Si ranging between 60/40 and 40/60. The present invention is also directed to substrates containing a photocatalytic coating and to liquid-phase dispersions which are used in the preparation of the photocatalytic coatings.

The diffuse reflective barrier coating includes a transmissive medium having a transmissive-medium index of refraction, and a plurality of radiation-scattering centers distributed in the transmissive medium, the radiation-scattering centers having a scattering-center index of refraction different from the transmissive-medium index of refraction. The radiation scattering centers may be voids or second ceramic particles. The diffuse reflective barrier coating has a surface roughness of less than about 150 microinches RMS.

摘要： Multi-functional materials which have a photocatalytic layer with a photocatalytic function disposed on the surface of a base through an amorphous binder layer 6 interposed therebetween. Photocatalytic particles of the photocatalytic layer are joined together by a surface energy or solid-state sintering. The photocatalytic layer may have a structure in which fine particles fill interstices defined between photocatalytic particles or a structure in which no fine particles fill interstices defined between photocatalytic particles. A metal such as Ag, Pt, or the like may be fixed or not fixed to surfaces of the photocatalytic particles. A lower layer of the photocatalytic layer is embedded in the binder layer such that an intermediate layer is formed between the binder layer and the photocatalytic layer, the intermediate layer including components of the binder and photocatalytic layers in varying concentrations therethrough.
