The method may include the use of a pre-woven composite fiber end sleeve configured to define the flanged end coupling. The wound fiber, and the end sleeve, are cured together in a single step. Metal eyelets may be installed in the bolt holes.

A torque transmission shaft is configured having increased coupling strength between end joints and a cylindrical member to achieve high transmission torque. Misalignment and disengagement of outer collars (connection members) is effectively prevented in the step of press fitting the torque transmission shaft to another component, such as a constant velocity joint. Circlips are fitted in annular grooves formed in the end joints. The circlips abut and lock the outer collars. The outer collars each include a smaller diameter portion, and an end surface of the smaller diameter portion includes a plurality of hollow portions. The hollow portions allow a clearance between a serrated portion and the smaller diameter portion to communicate with the exterior of the outer collar. Air bubbles contained in an adhesive are allowed to escape out of the clearance through the hollow portions, and thus the clearance is filled with the adhesive densely.

A low-cost method of manufacturing a composite tube assembly having a composite fiber tube connected to metallic end fittings includes placing at least one end fitting on a mandrel, the end fitting including a grip region having a plurality of external surfaces, wrapping a fiber tow around the grip region of each end fitting and the mandrel to form a fiber-wrapped assembly, curing the fiber tow, and removing the mandrel to yield a completed tube assembly. The method may include positioning a plurality of compression inserts around the grip region after some of the fiber tow has been wrapped around the grip region, and wrapping additional fiber tow around the compression inserts and the grip region. The compression inserts may have a rounded outer surface such that an end portion of the tube wound around the compression inserts has a round outer cross-sectional shape.

The invention relates to a system of sliding elements which are formed by a base body and a counter-body. It is the object of the invention to provide a system of sliding element comprising a base body and a counter-body which has a reduced mass with a sufficient strength and which achieves improved properties of friction and wear. The system of sliding elements in accordance with the invention is formed by a counter-body and a base body as friction partners. The base body is formed from a fiber-reinforced polymer material and the counter-body is coated with diamond-like carbon at the surface subject to friction. At least the base body is formed from a textile-reinforced polymer matrix structure.
