摘要: A method and apparatus for making color filters for liquid crystal display panels. A transfer layer is formed on a collector roll, and a raised pattern corresponding to the desired black matrix pattern is formed on the transfer layer by embossing. A plurality of colored ink patterns is formed in the appropriate location within the boundaries formed by the raised pattern, thereby forming the multicolor image that will become the color filter. This multicolored image is then transferred to the substrate. Preferably, the inks are deposited into the black matrix pattern using typographic imaging pins which are smaller than the cells of the black matrix pattern.

摘要: A holographic article and method for forming permits the party producing the final document to print the holographic image directly on the final document thereby permitting such party to retain and maintain control of its own embossing shim on which the hologram has been formed and which is utilized for embossing the holographic image on the document. A film upon which a holographic image can be directly stamped upon the final document includes a layer of metal having a thickness in the range of 20 millimicrons to 100 millimicrons, a lacquer coating having a thickness in the range of 0.5 microns to 3 microns and a heat activatible adhesive. The metal layer lacquer coating and heat activatible adhesive are caused to be adhered to the substrate forming the final document during a stamping operation which releases said metal layer, lacquer coating and heat activatible adhesive from a plastic carrier film to which had initially been applied.

摘要: A mechanical embossing process wherein a web of material composed of a composite structure having at least a carrier and a thick foam layer to be embossed is heated in an oven to a temperature of 250.degree. F. to 350.degree. F. and thereafter cooled by wetting the carrier, which is the back surface of the web, to approximately 100.degree. F. below the top surface of the web prior to embossing of the foam. In certain areas of the web, hot spots may occur resulting in a top surface-back surface temperature of less than approximately 100.degree. F. Just prior to embossing, these hot spots are eliminated by selectively and intermittently cooling the back surfaces of the hot spot areas to obtain a top surface-back surface temperature difference of approximately 100.degree. F. The process is used for achieving multilevel mechanical embossing of a fused or cured wear layer in register with a print-on and expanded foam.

摘要: A continuous, moving length of substantially rigid thermoplastic synthetic resin material is marked with a hot die at spaced intervals along its length. The hot die is mounted for movement parallel to the direction of movement of the sheet from the sheet forming apparatus, and is actuated in coordination with a sheet cutter which cuts the continuous length into individual sheets so that a die mark is provided at the desired position on each sheet cut from the continuous length.

摘要: The process herein is used for achieving multilevel mechanical embossing of a fused or cured wear layer in register with a print on an expanded foam thereunder. The expansion of the decorative foam and fusion of the wear layer are carried out and then the back of the foam is cooled by wetting and liquid evaporation. The wear layer is maintained at a high temperature for embossing and is embossed with registry between the embossed pattern and the printed pattern on the foam. Just prior to embossing, the decorative foam-wear layer web is wrapped around the backup roll of the embossing apparatus, and after embossing, is wrapped partially around the embossing roll of the embossing apparatus.
