Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to a microfluidic die that includes a first larger heater and a second smaller heater is a single chamber. The first heater is configured to form a primary bubble that ejects fluid from a nozzle associated with the chamber. The second heater is configured to form a secondary bubble to prevent blow back caused when the primary bubble bursts and ejects fluid from the nozzle. The first and second heater may be coupled to a single input trace and a single ground trace.
Abstract:
An arrayed waveguide grating multiplexer/demultiplexer includes an array of optical waveguides ordered in sequence from a shortest waveguide up to a longest waveguide, and identical phase shifters configured to be controlled by a same control signal. Each phase shifter increases/decreases an optical path of an optical waveguide by the same quantity based on the control signal.
Abstract:
An electric motor is controlled by means of pulse-width modulated control signal having edge transitions occurring at certain transition count values of the pulses of a clock signal which is frequency-modulated with a step-wise frequency modulation (e.g., SSCG or Spread Spectrum Clock Generation). A frequency unmodulated clock signal is provided having a fixed period indicative of the period of the pulse-width modulated control signals. The transition count values are set as a function of a predicted count value and/or a predicted frequency value for the frequency-modulated clock signal. Prediction occurs as a function of the frequency unmodulated clock signal, so that the transition count values are compensated against the step-wise (e.g., SSCG) frequency modulation.
Abstract:
An integrated MEMS gyroscope, is provided with: at least a first driving mass driven with a first driving movement along a first axis upon biasing of an assembly of driving electrodes, the first driving movement generating at least one sensing movement, in the presence of rotations of the integrated MEMS gyroscope; and at least a second driving mass driven with a second driving movement along a second axis, transverse to the first axis, the second driving movement generating at least a respective sensing movement, in the presence of rotations of the integrated MEMS gyroscope. The integrated MEMS gyroscope is moreover provided with a first elastic coupling element, which elastically couples the first driving mass and the second driving mass in such a way as to couple the first driving movement to the second driving movement with a given ratio of movement.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for mitigating offsets in an interpolator are disclosed. In the method and apparatus, a first number of clock cycles of a first clock signal observed over a first clock cycle of a second clock signal is determined and then stored. Also a second number of clock cycles of the first clock signal observed over a second clock cycle of the second clock signal subsequent to the first clock cycle is determined and stored. The first number of clock cycles and the second number of clock cycles are compared to determine whether they are different from each other. If they are different from each other, a reset signal is asserted under control of the second clock signal to reset at least one of a derivator stage and an integrator stage of an interpolator.
Abstract:
One or more first signals and one or more second signals, wherein the second signal(s) are slowly varying or low frequency signals in comparison with the first signals and are converted from analog to digital by sampling the first signals and the second signals to produce samples thereof for analog-to-digital conversion, subjecting the samples of the first signals to conversion to digital at a certain conversion rate, subjecting the samples of the second signal to conversion to digital by segments so that these segments are subjected to conversion to digital along with the samples of the first signals at the respective conversion rate, and reconstructing digital converted samples of the second signal from the segments subjected to conversion to digital.
Abstract:
According to an embodiment described herein, a method for testing a memory includes receiving an address and a start signal at a memory, and generating a first detector pulse at a test circuit in response to the start signal. The first detector pulse has a leading edge and a trailing edge. A data transition of a bit associated with the address is detected. The bit is a functional bit. The method further includes determining whether the bit is a weak bit by determining whether the data transition occurred after the trailing edge.
Abstract:
A packaged sensor assembly includes: a packaging structure, having at least one opening; a humidity sensor and a pressure sensor, which are housed inside the packaging structure and communicate fluidically with the outside through the opening, and a control circuit, operatively coupled to the humidity sensor and to the pressure sensor; wherein the humidity sensor and the control circuit are integrated in a first chip, and the pressure sensor is integrated in a second chip distinct from the first chip and bonded to the first chip.
Abstract:
A pressure sensor designed to detect a value of ambient pressure of the environment external to the pressure sensor includes: a first substrate having a buried cavity and a membrane suspended over the buried cavity; a second substrate having a recess, hermetically coupled to the first substrate so that the recess defines a sealed cavity the internal pressure value of which provides a pressure-reference value; and a channel formed at least in part in the first substrate and configured to arrange the buried cavity in communication with the environment external to the pressure sensor. The membrane undergoes deflection as a function of a difference of pressure between the pressure-reference value in the sealed cavity and the ambient-pressure value in the buried cavity.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to a high power factor quasi resonant converter. The converter converts an AC power line input to a DC output to power a load, generally a string of LEDs. The power input is fed into a transformer being controlled by a power switch. The power switch is driven by a controller having a shaping circuit. The shaping circuit uses a current generator, switched resistor and capacitor to produce a sinusoidal reference voltage signal. The controller drives the power switch based on the voltage reference signal, resulting in a sinusoidal input current in a primary winding of the transformer, resulting in high power factor and low total harmonic distortion for the converter.
