    摘要: A method and apparatus for packaging surface acoustic wave transponders for use in down-hole or other extreme environmental applications is provided. An exemplary ID tag transponder may include a surface acoustic wave (SAW) piezoelectric device, wire bonds, antennae structure, an antenna reflector, a radome, and a base constructed of a conductive, non-magnetic metal or metal alloy adapted to withstand an extreme environment encountered in down-hole applications. The metallic base may have a notched lip or flange about its periphery that is adapted for pressure fitting into the milled cylindrical orifice located on the exterior surface of a tool asset. In some embodiments, an exemplary SAW piezoelectric device may be attached directly onto an antenna substrate and wire bonded directly to an antenna. An RF reflector is created inside an exemplary transponder tag device. A small amount of predetermined gas is held on top of the SAW piezoelectric device within the reflector cavity to accommodate acoustic wave propagation therein. Exemplary components of a transponder tag are enclosed and hermetically sealed within and between a radome top portion and the metallic base bottom portion.

    摘要: Provided are a system and method for calculating and selecting a convergence path based on cost. In one example, the method includes identifying multiple geometric convergence paths that each provides a convergence solution from a defined bottom hole assembly (BHA) location to a target path. A total monetary cost is calculated for each of the geometric convergence paths using an offset cost based on a distance of the geometric convergence path from the target path, a curvature cost based on an amount of curvature of the geometric convergence path, and a time cost based on an estimated amount of time needed to drill the geometric convergence path. The total monetary costs of the geometric convergence paths are compared and one of the geometric convergence paths is selected based on the total monetary cost of that geometric convergence path relative to the total monetary costs of the other geometric convergence paths.

    摘要: A system is provided for communicating within a borehole using controlled vibrations. A movement mechanism uses mechanical energy provided by a mechanical energy source to enable translational movement of a first surface relative to a second surface to allow the first surface to repeatedly impact the second surface to produce a plurality of vibration beats. The vibration beats will occur whenever the mechanical energy is provided by the mechanical energy source at one of at least three impact levels. A vibration control mechanism selectively controls an amplitude of the plurality of vibration beats to encode information therein. The amplitude of a vibration beat is selectively controlled by regulating the impact of the first surface and the second surface to one of the at least three impact levels.

At least one centrifugal separator separates the non-potable water into suspended solids, saline water and oil. At least one ozone contact chamber injects ozone into a water stream being injected into at least one of the at least one of the centrifugal separators. A series of progressive filtration components are used for progressively filtering the saline water from the at least one centrifugal separator. The salinization filters then desalinate the progressively filtered saline water.

In one embodiment, a controller receives a periodic signal of the communications device and provides a scan signal to cause the keypad to be scanned. In a sleep mode a keypad scan is performed only subsequent to a keypad activation. However, if the communications device is in use a keypad scan is performed once per frame at predetermined intervals, in one embodiment.

    摘要: A process for decoding a signal being representative of a Space Time or Frequency Block coding during two signaling periods (STBC) or two parallel channels (SFBC) is provided. The process receives an OFDM signal received from at least one antenna. The process also performs an OFDM demodulation in order to generate N frequency domain representations of the received signal. Then the process performs a decoding process on said OFDM demodulated signal and groups the received signal in word code, Y=(y1, y2), to represent the signal that was received during two signaling periods (STBC) or two parallel channels (SFBC). The word code is then decoded into a matrix after which a lattice reduction algorithm is applied to the matrix in order to transform the matrix into a reduced matrix having a near orthogonal vector. Then it performs a detection process on the reduced matrix to improve noise and interference immunity.
