    Abstract: A method of making a non-clay based clumping pet litter can include blending a natural material; compressing the blended natural material into pellets; grinding the pellets into granules; screening the granules to obtain a predetermined size range; and applying functional additives to the sized granules. The functional additives can include a clumping agent, mineral oil, and a surfactant. The natural material can be one or more of recycled paper, corrugate, and sawdust. The functional additives can further include a fragrance oil. The clumping agent can be guar gum, and the surfactant can be a polysorbate. In another aspect, a non-clay based clumping pet litter contains granules of compacted natural material enrobed by a coating containing a clumping agent, mineral oil that adheres the clumping agent to the granules, and a surfactant.

Generally, the reduced caloric pet food can have a caloric content of 50% to 90% of the maintenance pet food in about the same volume and the reduced caloric pet food can have a density of 70% to 85% of the maintenance pet food.

    Abstract: Compositions and methods reduce symptoms of human allergy to cats. The effectiveness of a molecule which specifically binds to Feline domesticus allergen number 1 (Fel D1) is enhanced by prolonging the time the immunoglobulin stays within the mouth of a cat to whom the anti-Fel D1 molecule is administered in a pet food. The compositions and methods use a powder that is a dried hydrogel encapsulating the anti-Fel D1 molecule, and the hydrogel is based on gelatin, collagen peptides, or gelatin and collagen peptides; and carrageenan. The methods of making the powder provide a high encapsulation efficacy, sustained release of the anti-Fel D1 molecule in the cat's mouth, and oral adhesion of the anti-Fel D1 molecule in the cat's mouth.
