摘要: A catheter includes a longitudinally extending body having proximal and distal ends and defining at least one lumen that extends longitudinally from the proximal end through the body to the distal end and looping back to the proximal end. A liquid metal, e.g. an alloy of gallium and indium, such as galistan, is disposed in the lumen. In another aspect, a catheter includes a longitudinally extending body defining first and second lumens. An electrically driven device is coupled to a distal end of the body and is in electrical communication with the first and second lumens. A power source is in electrical communication with the first and second lumens and a liquid metal is disposed in the first and second lumens to provide an electrical conduit between the power source and electrically driven device. Each lumen may loop from a proximal end of the body to the distal end back to the proximal end.

摘要: A method of making drug eluting stents comprises forming ceramic surface coatings of two or more levels of porosity on a stent body. The less porous coating is more conducive to endothelial cell growth, while the more porous coating is better suited for storing and releasing drugs. The surface coatings of different porosities can be produced by coating stent body surface of differing roughness with coatings made by sol-gel method. Differing roughness of the stent body surface can be produced by selective etching of the stent body surface.

摘要: An apparatus having a device for moving a liquid comprises a piezoacoustic resonator element (11) having at least one piezoelectric layer (110) and two electrodes (111 and 112) present on the piezoelectric layer (110). The piezoacoustic resonator element (11) is designed such that, owing to a voltage being applied to the piezoelectric layer (110) by means of the electrodes (111 or 112), a volume oscillation of the piezoelectric layer (110) is excited at a resonant frequency. The piezoelectric resonator element (11) can be acoustically coupled in a suitable manner to a liquid for the purpose of transmitting the excited oscillation into the liquid for the purpose of moving the liquid. The apparatus may be in the form of a micromixer or in the form of a micropump and may comprise, in addition, sensor elements (41) for detecting the attachment of substance.

摘要: An apparatus comprises a dispenser, a coherent energy source and an beam steering system. The dispenser defines a path of a droplet. The beam steering system is coupled to the coherent energy source and is configured to define a beam path of the coherent energy source. The beam path of the coherent energy source is disposable across the dispenser path at an interaction location. The beam steering system and coherent energy source are collectively configured such that at least one of a direction, a velocity and an acceleration of the droplet is modified within the interaction location.

摘要: Methods of forming support layers for use in catheters using having a support layer included, and stents incorporating coatings of photosensitive polymerizable resins and stents including fibers coated with photosensitive polymerizable resins. A fiber is coated with a PPC resin and incorporated into a support structure for a catheter. Portions of the PPC are polymerized by exposure to light of a desired wavelength, causing increased rigidity and strength to the polymerized portions. As the PPC is polymerized, the fibers coated by the PPC resins become stronger and change the flexibility of devices incorporating such fibers. Additional embodiments include stents incorporating PPC coatings and methods of using such stents, including polymerizing a PPC coating after inserting a self-expanding or balloon-expandable stent.
