摘要: A composite rim including a reinforcing assembly is provided. The composite rim includes a first sidewall portion, a second sidewall portion, a radially outer portion and a reinforcing assembly. The radially outer portion includes a radially outwardly-facing tire-engaging surface. The reinforcing assembly is disposed proximate the tire-engaging surface and includes a reinforcer and a containment member for containing the reinforcer. The reinforcer has an axis extending circumferentially about the composite rim and is configured to reinforce the composite rim in a direction generally perpendicular to the axis of the reinforcer.

摘要: An apparatus for improving the security and connectivity of secured items. Embodiments are directed to an apparatus for securing a computer display in addition to other items (e.g., portable devices, portable storage devices, desk items, etc.). The computer display may be placed within a channel of the apparatus and secured using a cover, door, or the like, where the cover may be dedicated to securing the display or used to secure items within another compartment of the apparatus in addition to the display. Alternatively, the computer display may be secured to the housing of the apparatus such that the apparatus functions as a base for the computer display. Additionally, the apparatus may include one or more compartments for storing additional items, where the compartments may be accessible by a securable cover, door, drawer, etc.

摘要: A method for coating a thin film of a non-polymeric compound on a substrate by providing a mixture of the non-polymeric compound and a fluid carrier. This mixture is then pumped into the interior of a heated evaporation box having an internal temperature sufficient to convert substantially all of the non-polymeric compound and fluid carrier to a gaseous form. The non-polymeric compound and fluid carrier are then removed from the evaporation box via exit slit in the evaporation box. Adjacent to the exit slit, and maintained in a vacuum, is a substrate upon which the non-polymeric compound condenses. The substrate is in motion, for example on a web roller, thereby allowing a continuous coating of the non-polymeric compound to be applied to the substrate.

摘要: A system for testing the electrical components of vehicles during manufacturing includes a hand held tester to which a translator unit can be detachably engaged and with which the tester is in RF communication. The translator unit can be detached from the tester and plugged into a test receptacle under a vehicle's dashboard to communicate with the vehicle by translating computer formatted data from the tester to vehicle bus-formatted data, and vice-versa. Then, the vehicle's VIN is scanned into the tester or manually input into the tester, and the tester transmits the VIN via an RF link in the assembly plant to a computer in the plant. Based on the VIN, the computer determines the electric equipment that the vehicle has, and the computer transmits this information back to the tester. The tester then determines which tests to execute, and the tester causes the translator unit to undertake these tests. The translator transmits the test results back to the tester which in turn transmits the results to the computer. A portable current module can be provided that monitors the current drawn from the vehicle's battery during the testing and for communicating this data to the tester via RF link.

摘要: In various embodiments, a system and method for determining a gross combined weight of a vehicle and its load is disclosed. A method includes: providing predetermined calibration settings relating force to engine speed for a specific vehicle travelling in a reverse direction, altering accelerometer data based on filtered vehicle pitch and roll data, determining that one or more vehicle performance parameters fall within a threshold range, storing a plurality of data pairs that include longitudinal acceleration and drive force, and determining a slope of a line that linearly approximates the plurality of data pairs, the slope indicating a total weight, the total weight comprising a weight of the vehicle and a weight being hauled by the vehicle; and transmitting the total weight to a remote system for display.
