摘要: Biosecure algae and methods for preparing biosecure algae that have a substantially decreased capability to survive in a natural environment are described. The methods include transforming a genetically modified alga to include an essential gene that is operably linked to a promoter system that is active only in the presence of an inducer compound, transforming the genetically modified alga to include a lethal gene that is operably linked with a promoter system that is inactive only in the presence of a repressor compound. The biosecure algae are only able to survive in an artificial algae culture that includes factors or conditions not found in a natural environment.

摘要: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided for processing of an original batch of documents in which any document of the original batch that fails to comply with the predefined specification is identified to be a non-compliant document. At least one non-compliant batch is then formed that contains the non-compliant documents. The non-compliant batch is distinct from at least one compliant batch that contains any documents that do comply with the predefined specification. At least one of the non-compliant and compliant batches advantageously includes a plurality of documents. The complaint batch(es) may then be forwarded for further processing without awaiting rework of the non-complaint documents included in the non-compliant batch(es).

摘要: A dynamic element matching (DEM) scheme is implemented in a crawling code generator for converting a b-bit binary input code into a (2b−1)-bit digital output code. A random generator determines for every conversion step a direction. A decimal difference between the current and previous binary input is calculated. The new crawling output code is determined based on the previous crawling output code, the direction and the decimal difference. The DEM scheme is used in a digital-to-analog converter such that the crawling output code switches digital-to-analog converting elements that output analog signals that are then summed to be the final analog signal.

摘要: Provided are photochromic articles that include a substrate, a primer layer that includes a first photochromic compound, and a photochromic-dichroic layer over the primer layer that includes a photochromic-dichroic compound. The first photochromic compound and the photochromic-dichroic compound each are selected such that the photochromic-dichroic compound has an absorbance of less than or equal to 0.1 at the wavelength of peak absorbance of the underlying first photochromic compound. The present invention also relates to such photochromic articles that further include a topcoat layer over the photochromic-dichroic layer. The topcoat layer can include a second photochromic compound that has an absorbance of less than 0.1 at the wavelength of peak absorbance of the underlying photochromic-dichroic compound. The photochromic articles provide, for example, a combination of linear polarizing properties, and reduced percent transmittance when in a colored or darkened state, such as when exposed to actinic light.

摘要: Methods and systems for management and tracking of complex entitlement benefits are disclosed. For example, a method can include identifying a processing error within a distributed transaction processing system, assessing an impact of the processing error, and determining a recovery strategy to minimize the impact of the processing error. The processing error can be associated with the application of an entitlement to a plurality of transactions. The entitlement can include a defined benefit and a benefit counter. The benefit counter can control a quantity of transactions allowed to receive the entitlement. The impact of the processing error can be assessed in regard to the plurality of transactions.
