    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for controlling mobility for a cell having a small cell service area in a mobile communication system. A method for controlling mobility of a terminal in a mobile communication system, according to one embodiment of the present invention, can comprise the steps of: performing, by the terminal, a measurement operation; transmitting a measurement result to a base station; determining whether or not a target cell for handover is a cell for which handover is allowed; and skipping the handover if the target cell for handover is the cell for which handover is not allowed. According to one embodiment of the present invention, when the small cells are arranged sparsely or in the form of a cluster within a service area of a macro cell, the possibility of a handover failure can be reduced, and if a radio link failure occurs when handover is omitted, re-connection can be performed quickly by the terminal.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing multiple Timing Advance Groups (TAGs) operating with different timings are provided for use in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) system. The method for managing multiple TAGs at a base station of a wireless communication system supporting carrier aggregation according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes categorizing a plurality of carriers into at least one TAG according to a predetermined rule, assigning a TAG index to each TAG, transmitting the TAG index to a terminal, generating a Timing Advance Command (TAC) for synchronization, and transmitting the TAC to the terminal in a random access process. The method and apparatus for managing TAGs according to exemplary embodiments of the present invention is capable of informing of the timing advance group to which each carrier belongs and managing multiple timing advance groups efficiently without signaling overhead.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a pre-5th-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4th-Generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). A method and an apparatus that may repeatedly transmit signals to cope with and reduce transmission errors in device-to-device (D2D) communication are provided. The method includes receiving, upon generation of data to be transmitted to a receiving user equipment (UE) (RX UE), allocation of resources to be used for D2D communication, transmitting a scheduling assignment (SA) containing identification information of at least one RX UE to the at least one RX UE, assigning at least one hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process for the identification information of the at least one RX UE, and transmitting data to the at least one RX UE based on the HARQ process. Accordingly, it is possible to remove factors causing system performance degradation when retransmission operation for communication between a UE and a base station (eNB) is introduced to D2D communication.
