摘要: A process for producing an expanded or foamed polyolefin panel with a decorative surface wherein a polyolefin or a mixture of a polyolefin with rubber and/or a synthetic resin miscible therewith is blended homogeneously with a crosslinking agent and a blowing agent and shaped into a panel-like matrix below the decomposition temperature of the blowing agent and the activation temperature of the crosslinking agent; a film of a thermoplastic synthetic resin, imprinted in accordance with a pattern with printing ink on one surface side, is applied unilaterally or bilaterally to the matrix, with the imprinted surface side facing the matrix; and then the matrix, with the film applied, is crosslinked and expanded by heating to a temperature above the activation of the crosslinking agent and the decomposition temperature of the blowing agent.

摘要: A method of preparing a high strength sheet material comprising (a) forming a laminate comprising at least two layers of a thermoplastic polymer material, each layer having a fibrillar grain structure providing a predominant direction of splittability in each said layer, and wherein the layers are bonded to one another with the said predominant directions of splittability generally transverse to each other, (b) biaxially orienting the molecules of said layers by stretching the layers in substantially uniaxial steps, at least the transverse stretching step thereof being effected by applying pressure to the surface of the laminate along lines extending substantially in the longitudinal direction of the laminate to impart thereto a transversely waved or sinuous configuration, and (c) subjecting the biaxially oriented laminate while in the sinuous condition to a heat treatment while allowing at least 7% shrinkage of the laminate to take place in at least its transverse direction. The sinuously configured laminate is preferably brought into contact with a heated body having a surface that is flat in a transverse direction so that the crests on the sides of the sinuous configuration adjacent said body are heated more rapidly than the remainder of the laminate.

摘要: Foamable hot-melt adhesives comprised of a per se known hot-melt adhesive having a foaming additive therein, for example an organic azo compound. These adhesives can function in a purely physical foaming manner but can also function as crosslinking material, i.e. as solidifying and bonding materials. The foamable hot-melt adhesives of the invention can be used, for example, in sealing cable ends, for filling any desired aperture in the construction field, for sealing windows, doors, etc. or for sealing articles of manufacture.

摘要: A methof of manufacturing a two-wing one-piece dress-shielding element with two wings each composed of an absorbent layer adapted to lie against the body of a user and a moisture-impermeable layer adapted to lie against a dress, includes the steps of continuously supplying a web of material for forming at least one of the layers of the dress-shielding element, providing a plurality of working stations for performing a plurality of working steps for manufacturing the dress-shielding element, and displacing the web between the working stations so as to perform the working steps, whereby the web serves as transporting means for the dress-shielding elements to be manufactured from the web. A dress-shielding element includes a body part composed of a web material and having two wing portions connected with one another in a transition region, and a mass of superimposed web material provided in the transition region and deformed so as to form a common concave edge line for both wings of the dress-shielding element.

摘要: A cushioned toilet seat is made by first forming a sealed air-and-water tight annular inner tube having a configuration corresponding to that of the end product, then vacuum forming an annular recess or cavity in a first sheet of a cover material, then placing the previously formed sealed inner tube into the annular cavity, then placing a rigid annular member into the cavity on top of the inner tube, then placing a flat sheet of cover material over the cavity, and sealing it closed. Variations are disclosed in one of which the inner tube is filled or partially filled with a polyurethane foam produced by placing a quantity of expandable foamable polyurethane resin reaction mixture in the inner tube before sealing and then sealing the inner tube closed before the foam is fully expanded. In another embodiment, the inner tube is filled or partially filled with water.

摘要: A method of renovating washbasins, such as bathtubs, and the article of a renovated washbasin according to this invention involves a thermoformed sheet of acrylic plastic folded to have a shape substantially identical to that of the exterior surface of a washbasin to be renovated. The thermoformed sheet of plastic has a reinforcing resinous backing applied to a backside thereof. This forms a washbasin liner. The liner is adhered to the surface of the washbasin with a water resistant adhesive over the entire surface covered by the liner. A renovated washbasin is thereby formed. In a preferred embodiment a "plug" in the shape of a washbasin to be renovated is formed in situ on the washbasin and a master mold is then prepared from the plug. The master mold is used for shaping the thermoformed sheet of acrylic plastic and the reinforcing backing is sprayed thereon.
