    摘要: A floating point analog to digital converter having an exponent converter which divides the input signal successively one-half until the divided signal is within the range of a mantissa linear analog to digital converter. The exponent converter also generate a digital exponent representative of the division factor. The resulting divided signal is then digitized by the mantissa analog to digital converter. An output is thereby provided composed of a digital exponent and a digital mantissa. In one embodiment, the floating point converter is a charge mode converter suitable for direct interface to a charge mode device such as a CCD image sensor.

    摘要: Methods and apparatus for recording pulse signal information utilizing threshold integrating devices in which a pulse shaped signal is applied to a plurality of threshold integrating devices each having a predetermined quantity of electric charge carriers stored therein, in which the threshold integrating devices are responsive to application of electric potentials above a predetermined threshold potential value for altering the amount of charge stored in the charge storage zone of the threshold integrating devices. By providing a plurality of threshold integrating devices each having a different threshold potential, significant signal information may be obtained by passive application of the pulsed signal to a plurality of the devices. This signal information may be obtained by determining the amount of charge in the charge storage zones of the respective threshold integrating devices subsequent to application of the pulsed signal thereto.

The method includes the steps of providing an external analog voltage on an input of the track and hold circuit during a tracking mode of the track and hold circuit, storing a representation of the sampled external voltage in a storage device of the track and hold circuit, blocking a signal path between the external voltage and the storage device during a holding mode of the track and hold circuit and clamping the input of the track and hold circuit to a predetermined voltage during the holding mode.
